Clanky unlock not working?

I just won the championship in season mode, but when I hold down shift and click Clanky in the clubhouse, nothing happens except for a noise when I click. Am I doing something wrong, or is the unlock just not supported in this version?

Once you've done the shift and click on Clanky in the clubhouse, he is unlocked. But there is no indication or popup. You have to then go to a pickup game to select him for a team. He does not unlock for Season mode.

That's right. However, when you shift-click on Clanky, if you notice well enough, the light bulb on Clanky's head will start to blink so that is a subtle indication. In the Backyard Soccer games as well as Backyard Baseball 2003, you actually DO have to win the championship to unlock Clanky. But not in this game or the 2001 version, in which you can actually play as the robot from the start (as long as you do the shift-click thing in the menu).
