Anyway, here is my advice.
First, just git gud lol. Play some games and pay attention, you'll learn a lot. Apply general good baseball sense. Take some pitches, don't be too eager to hit a home run every time.
Specific to this game: Figure out who your players are and play them accordingly. The descriptions and commentary actually have a lot of relevance, I'm pretty sure there is a lot more to their mechanics than the basic 4-star abilities system, which is just there to give you a general idea. There are definitely differences between batters regarding their contact abilities versus power, even if they both have the same batting rating.
Some of the players are really fast so you they can make it to first on a grounder or even a bunt, some of them can't run if their lives depend on it so you might as well just swing for the fences since they can barely make it to first base even if the ball is fielded on the warning track.
