My friend cant update the game

my friend in on version 0.3.3f9
and im on the current newest versionn 0.4.4f4 and we would like to play together and it just keeps saying how we on on different versions but his doesnt pop up with any updates or anything like that

Maybe he's on the beta branch and forgot to switch back or something?

Verifying integrity of game files might help, after making sure he's on the right version that he wants. That should force an update.
