It's that begging is against Steam's rules, and even if it wasn't, that sort of behavior shouldn't be encouraged.
Are some of the sob stories true? Probably.
Is there a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? Definitely.
Is anybody owed a video game? No.
Yes, ideally, those threads should just get reported and not replied to at all.
Unfortunately, that would be an unrealistic expectation, and there will always be replies.
And since there will always be replies, they should at least be overwhelmingly a collective "no".
Anything less just encourages more begging and scamming.
No one's entitled to a free video game just because it's the latest popular thing that all the influencers are talking about.
Nobody wants to support a beggars interests when it takes work to make the cash in the first place. Begging is basically saying "I'm too lazy to earn the money or cheap to spend my own, so I will pass the expense onto you for my own enjoyment."
If you are struggling then ask for groceries or a better job. You don't need a game to distract you any more than they already do, if they are preventing you from going and finding a job.
Other working people are not your personal wallets to get upset at when they say no.
You know the solution? You don't respond. You don't have to spend any money on anyone that you don't want to. You can keep all your money to yourself. People are gonna beg...you don't wanna give anything to them? Don't. You aren't forced to. Easy. Going out of your way (maybe you not specifically, maybe someone similar...) to respond is a waste of time. You don't have the means or the will to gift anyone anything....so leave it alone. Don't be pissed if someone else gets something you paid for free...that is just envy. Next time you should just ask if it bothers you that much. Not everyone is you and has the will nor the means to make that money to purchase something for themselves. Also, if someone doesn't purchase something for themselves, it doesn't mean that they are lazy. Everyone has different abilities. Don't be mean. No one is making you spend YOUR money. Don't bully people who get things for money they don't earn themselves just because you have that ability and are envious.
We can do that just as much as you can beg for a game and potentially get banned for breaking TOS.
That is the answer. It's the internet! Act like a troll, get trolled back.
What is this place now, Sesame Street's Online Forum?
Imma be level. If you ask and get a No! and then drop it, then you are not the problem. You are fine to accept the answer and still chill. If you don't and fight back and call people names or accuse them of things (I am not saying you did, I don't what happened or if anything did)
Then you are the issue because you couldn't take no for an answer.
If you accepted it and people just got more insulting over time for no reason... Well they start to become the problem. Don't beat yourself up over it. If people say no, stop begging and move on.
You guys are really such huge babies. It isn't that serious. If you think it is, then report it. Let the 'rules' take care of it. You guys respond because it bothers you that much, You want it for free? Ask like the people you hate. If you don't wanna do that, then don't. Buy it for yourself. You don't get paid to enforce the rules bbycakes. I wish you all well. <3
