Unsure if the Dev can fix it on their end or if it's a unity bug... but I haven't replicated this on other unity games so who knows?
this isn't an issue for me, wtf did you guys do to your pcs?
running unstable ram OCs?
in case no one told you: an unstable ram OC is when you go over the max boost speed of your cpu, intels is 5600.
i've seen people post their specs on here saying they're running 6000hz ram or higher on intel builds, that's literally a problem right there.
intels max boost speed is 5.6, that's 5600 max speed for ram.
going over will cause issues in the base software of applications due to the ram speed being faster than the max clock speed of the cpu, you shouldn't do that, it both ruins your cpu and mobo and makes games have major issues.
cpu affinity is only fixing your problems because you are stalling all of your cores from some janky setup in your pc, you should not have to enable/disable affinity for any cores to play such a simple game, if you do then there's something seriously wrong with your pc and im willing to bet it's what i already said, you bought the highest speed ram you could not knowing the speed isn't something you should be hitting to begin with.
if you are running an unstable ram overclock higher than your cpus max boost speed then the fix for ALL of this isn't to turn affinity for cores off, it's to go into your bios and use xmp to downclock your ram to your cpus max boost speed or recommended 4800, you shouldn't be using speeds faster than 5600 on intel period. - and believe me: YOU AREN'T SEEING A BONUS FOR GOING OVER THE MAX BOOST SPEED, YOU ARE ACTUALLY SEEING PERFORMANCE LOSS - and you're degrading your mobo and cpu doing so.
Not exactly sure who you're ranting about ... I dont see anyone talking about their overclocked, over rammed intel comp ... this is just a simple fix to turn off cores only for this game, not your overall system in general, as it does help with quite a few unity programmed apps. It is for ppl who are having an issue, no need to chime in if you aren't. If it helps ppl play this game in peace thats the goal. But damn bro I see you get extremely uptight towards what other ppl are doing.
And yes, you can accomplish this with lasso, but i figured ppl can at least test it out with this process which is right there in front of them before they go and download lasso.
Take care all.
my original comment was just stating you shouldn't have to use process lasso or task manager to set affinity, the game should run well out of the box if you're not overtaxxing your cpu with something like an unstable overclock.
these kinds of performance issues can also be caused by the latest game ready drivers as well, which is another thing to keep versed on.
js: if you're using a ram overclock of over 6000 like someone else said on another post with an intel chip, you're running a ram overclock not rated for your chips boost speed and are FRYING it, which causes issues in games like thermal throttling and you lose frames - in some severe cases the game will outright crash because the ram will overload the cpus cores, which for some reason people think because setting affinity makes it run it doesn't continue to mess up their system.
if you ARE running an unstable ram OC like i said, you don't need to freak out and think you wasted money, simply change the speed in xmp in bios and enjoy your overclocked intel chip like you're meant to, believe me if you're running an unstable OC higher than your chips max boost speed you will see degraded performance, not increased.
That's not what most people whom are getting crashes have happen.
This is a known unity bug that unity themselves don't have an answer to.
OC RAM is such a fringe case that it's kinda wild to assume most of the crashes people are reporting are based on that.
The affinity check is a quick and easy check (also free) for people to see if that solves their problems. I don't have anything overclocked but was facing whole system freezing. HWiNFO saw no voltage spikes, core spikes, temp spikes, temp overheat, CPU utilisation and GPU totally fine. No new BIOS to update and the lack of accurate information out there or a solution from devs, reddit, discord ect failed many people.
The affinity limit is the only thing that has helped me and so far quite a few others and I'm doing by best to help spread the message of a free, non invasive solution until either unity or the devs can sort it out.
Chillax with the rage on OC, not a single person in this thread talked about it, nor in the majority of crash threads. An outlier doesn't make it a rule. Your message will harm more people trying this on their default settings systems.
Besides, I would hope that if people knew how to OC their systems, they would also know how to stress test them for stability.
Note: BIOS/Windows Updates and stuff were not available.
