Can this game be played LAN?

I work on a ship where we have a special network for LAN games. Some colleges use it for minecraft.

I was wondering if that would work for this game.

I think the only way to connect is via steam, so while I have no evidence, I do not believe you could run this over a lan. At least not without performing some voodoo.

If you don't have internet access on the ship or the special network, then it won't work.

Most steam games can be played offline. There is no central server that the game has to check in with, so it shouldn't be a problem.

LAN would be a great feature to have so multiplayer would be possible without internet.

The good old days! Very few games have LAN support these days.

I feel like the removal of LAN was intertwined with DRM and always-on BS; I miss LAN so much..
