Dev just had multiple millions put into his pocket, legitimate legal threats from Pfizer (it was dumb to not check that Viagra was trademarked, but for a single guy, not surprising) so other than game development the lead dev now needs to work on:
1) Accounting; you don't just become a multi-millionaire overnight and avoid the tax man, or even get to put that money into a standard bank account. Dealing with huge amounts of money is time consuming and requires people to deal with that money, who require hiring and so on.
2) Legal, given that Viagra wasn't renamed, there's a real threat that Pfizer may try and sue, so that needs covered
3) Hiring new devs. Assuming he has a real dream to make a good game, he'll probably be doing job interviews rn. That also takes time, especially when you'll have a bunch of underqualified people who think they can make a quick bit of money applying. This will probably require Tyler to hire a hiring manager.
So it's not unlike the state of the game rn. Tyler literally needs to play IRL errand boy with no time freeze, no savegames and no logging off for the night to do something else.
He basically won the lottery, with extra strings attached. Never hear the phrase "If I really hated someone, I'd buy them a lottery ticket and hope they won"?
Instant cash doesn't mean instant easy life, in fact, 99% of the time it's the opposite.
OK mate.
Fix your computer.
Live a happy life.
What is your source on Pfizer? I never notice it was named Viagra, it has always said Viagor for me.
https://schedule-1.fandom.com/wiki/Items?oldid=3234]Here's an old wiki link, from the 15th of April.
Here's[schedule-1.fandom.com] the latest wiki entry.
Just Ctrl+F Viagra and Viagor respectively. It was changed, same with the Cuke colors.
Or if you don't believe the wiki, this video, at 31 seconds, you can see it's called Viagra.
It was dumb to not check every product, especially if it's not a chemical name, or shortening of one (ie Paracetamol being a shortening of para-acetylaminophenol, which is why it's called paracetamol in some places and acetaminophen in others), Viagra sounds very brand-name, though it seems to have been an honest mistake where Tyler simply didn't put everything into a search engine and make sure it wasn't trademarked.
As for 'my source on Pfizer' Tyler used a brand name drug in a game about selling illicit drugs, which was then changed alongside a bunch of other, much less trademark infringing things, like the Cuke colors being red. The strongest trademark claim is a name, not a color. Copy that 1:1 and you'll have angry lawyers chasing after you. Especially since they don't want someone suing after somebody dies because an idiot mixed heaps of sildenafil into their (own personal use) weed, meth or coke and claimed S1 is at fault but aiming at Pfizer for not taking action, as billions trump millions.
Viagra being ingame is a viable lolsuit, given that RedBull (colors also changed during that update) was sued because it didn't actually make people sprout wings[www.bbc.co.uk]
1- People that have no reasons to complain have next to 0 incentive to be here.
2- People that have reasons to complain have all the incentives to be here and vent
3- A vast majority of IT issues are user-side, but a vast majority of users will blame the software/the developer, and since developer can't fix issues on their side, they will complain on the next game, and the next game.....
With all of this, we can conclude 3 things:
-These posts are not representative
-It's very likely their fault in some capacity if game doesn't work
-People with issues are WAAAAY overrepresented in steam forums.
With all of this considered, and the massive success of the game, I call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. :P
With my experience on steam forums, and these conclusions, I've come to realize that the more people ♥♥♥♥ on a game on steam forums, the more it's successful and "works". :D
The game works.
Tyler didn't disappear.
Yes, people are discussing things on the forums including a few things that aren't working properly. That's what happens on the forums for... well, every single game on Steam.
Of course some of the bugs and issues aren't fixed yet because it's only one person working on this game. It's going to take time, and when someone estimates that a patch, fix, hot fix, update, etc. might be done next week that's not a guarantee that it will be done. Anyone that has even a modicum of knowledge about game development and coding knows it's very hard to say exactly how long bug fixes are going to take. Fixing one bug doesn't mean something else won't break or be negatively affected by the fix. Sometimes there's a domino effect whenever you change pieces of code. That means care must be taken when changing things and testing is necessary as well and since everything is being done by Tyler, well... you gotta cut the guy some slack.
Yes, it is an early access game meaning it's in development and you should not be buying early access games unless you understand what that means and based on this post you clearly don't know what that means.
Again, the game works. It is playable. Over 46,000 people are playing it right now. If it didn't work that number would be zero.
Go away you naughty troll
Fixed it.
