game is filling up my C drive
i was playing co op with a friend when windows told me i had no more room on my C drive. in the space of an hour the game had written 10 Gb there. Obviously the game is not installed there. i quit the game, and all the space was restored. yes, i'm installing a bigger drive soon, but what gives??? anyone else experience this? thanks.

i forgot to add, the game fills up the C drive even in single player.

I do not think this is related to the game, despite the correlation, have you installed mods ?

You can't have 1 on a different drive without both being on a different drive then drive C !

Yes you can.

Maybe go into steam settings and check if shader caching is enabled, if it is disable it.
again in steam settings check if background recording is enabled, if it is disable it.
both of those things will cause games to burn storage space like no tomorrow, background recording it temp uses the space and then clears it when you game exit.

other than those can't think of any reason why the game is filling up your HD space whilst playing :)
No issues here :)

Perhaps that would be why your out of hard drive space on C drive .
My S1 game takes a little over 7 GB on my Drive D where Steam is also installed on drive D .
I have 100 + hours on S1 with no problems..........
You can have Steam installed on any drive you choose and not have a single game installed on the same drive. Mine is installed on D: but I have game libraries on D: and E: drives. Most game saves however, are stored on the C: drive by default unless you choose to move them with a Symbolic Link

My current Schedule I save file is only 23MB so the only thing I can think of that would explain the OP's 10GB of data would be the background recording as mentioned by @Maconijnr. I don't think shader caching would fill that type of space for this one game.

Okay sorry my bad. Guess you never get to old to learn.
I have never tried to install on different drives .
Whenever you play a game on your main drive, Windows uses a function called Page File which is a virtual form of memory, kind of like RAM, which is used on your installation drive. That is why you should always make sure to have at least 20 % free space on your installation drive for this game. I also recommend using a SSD for the installation, it speeds up everything and eliminates stutters

Thanks for the replies you guys! i finally found shader caching (why does that go in downloads?) and disabled it, and of course i'm not broadcasting. played like a day and a half, the game ate 5 giga of space. so i'm afraid nothing worked.

i also have info that the SSD is getting ready to go bad. it's reaching end of life it says. so maybe that's it. i will have more info when the new drive gets here on saturday. have an award!

Useless recommendations in my opinion. Everyone uses an SSD these days. But the game still stutters on SSDs and on high-end machines in general. The game has not been optimized, like 95% of PC games.

You have no idea what you are talking about lol.

Page file reserves its disk space before it's used anyways, that's not the cause. Stutters in the game are mostly caused by idle employees atm, gotta make sure they're all kept busy ie: their supply shelves are filled and their output shelves are cleared. Two different employees outputting into the same storage tends to cause issues as well. This is EA pains, am sure Tyler will resolve these things.

Concerning OP's concerns, I'd point towards something like this:

Like, software that will record highlights too, like nvidia app, browse through that see if you have any options like that enabled. ^^

I know hte footage I record with nvidia app tends to hover in the dozen of gb for like 10 minutes in 1440p. :P

I often help people on steam and I do a little bit of IT work RL, 99% of end users are still using HDD in some capacity, and 90% can't even tell which of their drives it is. Game meant to be on a SSD installed on a HDD is a problem I see a lot. >//<

I have a HDD for long term storage myself.

You would be surprised about how many people complain about various things in forums of especially AAA-games that can be linked to having games installed on HDDs.

Many people still think it's a rather new technology and rather wait for a new PC to think about it instead of installing it on their current PC. On top of that i've seen many people still installing stuff on HDDs despite having a SSD, because they've a misconception of the lifespan of SSDs.

hey, thanks for the replies you guys. again the game is NOT on the SSD, it's on an old drive. for reference i7 2700K RTX 3060 32Gb memory. i doubt i need the page file for this undemanding game graphically. i'll see what happens saturday, but this is weird. never had a game do this.
