Brad Crosby: Bugged, or lazy and shiftless by design?
In a town chock full of desperate junkies hooked on the insto-balding, skin-blackening poison I've been selling them, Brad Crosby somehow manages to make ZERO money for me on most standard work days. It doesn't seem to matter which customers I assign to him or the quality of drugs I give him to peddle. He's basically as useful as a superfluous nipple. Meanwhile, both Benji and Molly rake in fat stacks on a daily basis.

It's fine if he was programmed by the dev to possess the work ethic of The Big Lebowski. After all, he's a hobo who lives in a tent inside a parking garage. But for the love of generation slacker, please give us the ability to either fire underperforming dealers/employees or kill and dismember them. I mean, what would Tony Montana or Tuco do with this clown?

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. And it's been rather recent too. I was hoping restarting the game, taking the product off him and starting a new day would reset him but....not sure that's going to work.
I had the same issue. I unassigned everyone, waited till the next day, reassigned people, and gave him a product everyone I assigned would buy. It was a mix that had 5+ effects. Not sure what caused the change. But, I'd start by giving him a stack of jars with basic product and see what he does. Until customers are more friendly/addicted then certain product may not be enough. Think GreenCrack+Viagra is 100% addictive. Gave him 5 bricks of regular meth last I was on, he was selling that just fine.

I tried the "save & reset" trick that others here have suggested to try and jump start him selling but it didn't seem to work. It did get him out of his tent and moving, but that's just about it. I actually watched him on the map app criss-cross the entire downtown on foot and not take home one measly dollar. Not cool.

I've noticed Brad underperforming but not terribly. I have Benji, Molly and Jane earning 3 to 4K a day consistently, Brad earns 2 to 3K a day except one day he earned almost 10K randomly

It really depends on what customers you assign to him and what supply you give him. I generally give him low end customers and low end product, and he does alright... for a dude that lives in a tent in a parking lot.
So far he is my best seller, he usually makes as much per day as Molly and Benji do combined.

I still want to know if smacking them is actually a gameplay mechanic that makes them perform better, or just a silly tip in a loading screen.
Yeah something is wrong with that punk. I've tried beating his ass to motivate him but it doesn't work. I have to save and quit the game completely each day to make sure he drags his lazy ass out of his tent.

At least he wasn't using the product I gave him.

I knocked on his tent, took his customers and product back and then punched him in the face. I then spent a night dealing with his customers. The next day I decided to give him a few less bricks and accept the fact that his customers suck.

Yep, saving & quitting definitely gets Brad out of his tent and walking around at least. Problem is, he'll walk around all day and make maybe $600-$800, or sometimes nothing at all, while Benji and Molly walk like 20 ft from their apartments and make $$$ almost instantly.. It doesn't matter what customers I assign to Brad, where they're located, or how good or bad the quality of the junk I give him is.

He's either bugged or intended by the dev to be the town hobo.

I'm fairly certain that a part of the problem is the downtown area itself.

A lot of the customers there don't seem to be big or frequent buyers. There's like maybe four that tend to buy every day and two of those I handle myself since they're also like the only two big buyers in the area.

The rest all buy like 2 or 3 times a week at best, it seems. And only 2 or 3 units of a product that costs only like $88, so they're not huge spenders.

This. First game I blamed Brad for being a problem child as well. But after having dealt with the downtown customers myself, I can definitely say they're the oddballs. Half of them wouldn't even place orders until I had poached them in the streets multiple times to get their addiction up. Namely the pharmacist, chef, lawyer, and skateboard dude comes to mind..

They also seem to mainly place small orders, but can be extorted for so much more, which has made downtown my most profitable customers. However, this might also be the reason why Brad rarely make much money. As the dealer AI can't bargain in the same way the player does.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if every district worked this way. It made for a much more immersive and fun gameplay experience in my opinion.
quality of product does matter in regards to how much of it they sell

Maybe he is an undercover cop?

I have this problem, but its with Molly and its only in my multiplayer game. In my solo game, I got all but the last dealer unlocked and the ones I do have unlocked, give me no problems.
