and thats how games are made these days, they use to be made by gamers for gamers that understand and had more control in the older days, their bosses ran the compaines at their mercy
not anymore....
these days its like any other industry its about profits, stocks, etc. and the new bosses just want like the publisher want fast revenue quick turn around, profit and speed. and when you code something its about whats the least amount of effort required, the least amount of lines, the most effiecent way of getting to a goal or objective
and this games mechanics stinks of that rule...
the entire inventory system, the way staff works etc, smells of that principle
my knowledge is very low really...
i messed with the cryengine for a bit and gave up
but...
if you want to bring up the sole developer as an excuse then you must and have to also admit and understand that this games success and mechanics are dependant on the knowledge of a single person.
and whether you like it or you dont, this game has so many bugs and problems and a lot of in your face issues that suggest his ambitions are beyond his ability not to tear him an new one or anything..
but the staff mechanics and inventory systems are very old skool
You say you have first hand experience that it's difficult, and then move the goalpost even further. There is a reason this game is in early access. There is also a reason it has done so well. Jank is fun, and almost all the game breaking stuff was patched in the first week of EA. The developer is doing wonderfully, but is limited by their lack of infinite shadow clones. If you had a hard time of coding on your own, you should know firsthand that this isn't easy, and that any issue big or small can be an easy fix or an esoteric bundle of Gordian Knots from a single misstep years ago in early development. Stoneshard had to remake most of the game before the Rags to Riches update, and that was a small team. Exanima had to rebuild the whole damn engine to keep developing that game.
i said his only motivation is to create a game the fastest way possible, and make money like we all do in our daily jobs. and no more
beyond that its clear hes not very good because there are plenty of games out there in better shape made by sole developers. and also its very clear from the product itself.
early access is a joke, i buy them as do you...
but under legal terms this developer has made a lot of cash now, and trust me legally speaking he can just walk away right now and take the money if he felt it was enough for him finical speaking
trust me many have, i dont hold any respect for developers generally speaking.
he doesnt even talk here...
then maybe the limit will change...
