Why Launder Money?
Sorry if this is super obvious, but what's the point of laundering money in the game? I bought the laundromat and laundered $1000, which then went into my bank account. But I could just as easily have put $1000 into an ATM. A lot quicker too.

So why? I understand in real life criminals use laundering to "clean" dirty money by investing it in legit companies, so the profits from them could be concealed and appear legit, even though they lose some of the money from fees and interest etc. But in the game nobody is coming to check where our money is coming from. We don't need to justify it to a bank or fill in any tax forms. So what's the point??

The ATM con only take 10k per WEEK, whereas the businesses can launder their max every 24 hours

When you start pulling in tens of thousands per day they become near essential

ATM is limited to 10.000 weekly.
You need to launder if you want more money into your bank account each week.
The laundromat gives you an extra of 2.000 each day which makes it a total of 24.000 a week into you bank account.
max deposit into bank is 10K. When you have A LOT of cash, that takes a long time to deposit. By using the businesses you buy to laundry your cash, this becomes much quicker.

You're going to reach a point where you're going to need to deposit more than $10k/wk. I just recently unlocked the Docks and I'm making about $12k per day, and that's without the high-quality 8-step meth I'm just now starting to make.
As for the point? It's a game mechanic the developer put in to simulate the IRS limits, add extra dynamics to the game, but without making it a huge burden.

10k limit a week. I had two launder spots before I even left the sweatshop because I was making too much money for the ATM.

Thanks for the replies. Guess it doesn't really apply to me yet since I'm lucky to make 2K a day. But good to know I have it ready for when my profits start going up :)
so you can use your card to buy stuff
But you only need money in the bank account to buy real estate, more money laundering business and vehicles.
The night shop takes cash so you can buy everything you need for production with cash once you unlock it.
Once you have all real estate for production and the van you dont really need much more in the bank account.

You need your card for ingredients for mixing, and anything from hardware stores.

Depending on how much mixing you do, it can add up.

I also imagine there'll be more uses for money as more content gets added.

For the time being, there's not much point to endgame other than "make money for the sake of making money".
The whole point of the game is to make your bank account go up. Cash in-hand doesn't count.

Source: My own rules I made up in my head for the game that I insist others follow.

you will notice why when you make 3~5k per day from your dealers and you cant putt the money anymore onto your bank account because you reached your weekly limit

Is there a reason to deposit cash into your bank?

90% of people that sell things explicitly only take card.

Certain goods or properties can only be bought with cash(green) and others with debit(blue) aka bank.
