you don't. to get rid of it you have to discard in the discard slot in the bottom right corner of your inventory.

its all mine. The hoarder in me wont let me discard any of it. All my unused furniture is stored in the businesses i have bought, because i am sure all if will be useful in the future

depending on your items yes they can be useful of course.But they should add the function so you can sell your staff by the pawn shop and through your inventory for smaller amounts directly to sell and you get all your money back or at least 80% of value.
