Great success = Great worries
So, I'm really happy for the dev.
But at the same time, due to precedent, I'm worried we end up with not much happening to the game.
Kinda worried we'll have a "I'm rich now and gonna bail!" or "This is too much pressure now, I can't deal with it" situation due to it.

I hope not. Early access games usually releases in their scratch step, but this is a solid one despite not being a full release yet.
It would be a shame both to the costumers and to the community.

We'll see. Right now it's a solid foundation that can easily be expanded on. Things could also go much smoother now that the game is successful.

Or the dev does a Team Cherry. Supporting the game to make it really great.. finishing it. Announcing schedule 2 with tons of new stuff while developing it for like a bazillion years while letting their community wait until they are dead due to old age.

Meanwhile the devs from drug dealer simulator must be fuming.

And don't get me wrong. I love this game and saw that it's an exceptional base to build upon. Which is something I didn't see with most of the other competitors in the same genre and theme, where the vibes were off and all of them suffer from that "asset flip" vibe, imho.
Hence why it truly would be a shame.

i get what your saying but by full release this game will probably average 200k

Does the dev speak to us or is he the silent type. I mean does anyone know anything about the dev or dev's?
It's strange for a block buster game to just appear out of nowhere.
Maybe it's a secret Ubisoft title.

i think since its still in early access, Valve has a way of taking all the money they made and refunding it back to the players. So we should be fine.

if it was a secret AAA shill company title in this day and age you know it wouldn't have succeeded

At this point with this happening so much steam needs to update policy for EA games again.

At least finish the product before bailing future development. With this much money in play for this dev I would argue jail time or fines if he just decided not to finish the game.

Yes this will become a real thing sometime, maybe not in the next 5 years but it damn well should be or we'll have people pulling a battlebit remaster and ghosting the community for years now on a promised roadmap update after they've made their millions.

The dev (Tyler) communicates a lot. I noticed he posts here sometimes but hes also active on discord. With him being the only dev, he said hes going to focus on bug fixes first, then content as soon as that's done. He said the first content patch is coming soon (1-2 weeks?). I honestly believe he will pump content out for this game. He is just overwhelmed atm. Hopefully he hires more people to help him with stuff.

Hopefully he doesnt hire a bunch of mouth breathers to suck him dry and stress him out further.

Im not worried about content so long as promises and the commitment is there.

Surroundead is an asset store game too but its also a single dev. Still to this day there is monthly news and sometimes weekly updates. No issue there.

Issue comes up when these small time devs start hiring more people and the game just becomes too much of a headache to manage over just working on it when you want and how you want.

If he did this much alone then all should be good alone steadily and slowly.
Arknor 31. mars kl. 5.22
he could just hire a couple of people to do the work for him tbh.

hopefully his passion sustains and he expands his studio to a 5 man team or something
I am looking forward to seeing what other small time devs come up with. All you have to do is look back to when basic game ideas got a lot of love. The 1980's. Most of you young whippersnappers wont have been around to experience it but this game shows once again what 1 person can do.
