Botanists don't use the auto-sprinkler for pots
a friend and I have noticed that the botanists still use their own (very slow) watering cans and not the (very fast) auto waterers we spent a lot of money on. is there something we are missing or are they stupid?

At the moment its entirely a QoL for the player. So if you want to keep planting yourself just use them instead. Any automated Botanist plants do not benefit from auto soilers or sprinklers so just give them the fastest growing bucket (being the cloth one dries the quickest) and assign and forget.

From what I have heard the air pot is not actually faster to use. Yes it's got a 15% growth speed booster, but, it needs (i think) 30% more watering, which, is time consuming. For now though I think that the plastic pots are a little better for your botanist to use and for speed add the better lights, expensive, yes, a bit, but until this is changed by the dev I believe this is the fastest current option. I do hope that the dev does get around to allowing the Botanist to use the sprinkler etc etc, but, Im sure he has a long long list of things to do and add. An amazing job all the same from a team of one.

Depends how many botanists you have. 1 botanist is fine for 8 moisture pots but they can still only stack to one shelf but 2 botanists with 4 air pots each can stack to 2 separate shelves.

I prefer to use the moisture pots for my botanists because it leads to less tasks for them and so less chance of them to bug out. I keep the air pots for my personal use. Might change that once I get an automated coca farm going.

This is actually wrong. Every pot can have its own output shelf. The input is only limited by the number of botanists.

can confirm, output is set in the pot, not on botanists, you could output into 8 shelves if you want, and I'd almost recommend that. :P

Yup, you can output each pot to its own shelf. Or you can output your pots to drying racks. In the barn I like to use 4 botanists with a 5:3 split of pots to racks. and a 5th botanist just working 8 racks (to deal with the 4x2 left over).

I like to set them all to one shelf and just have a handler move them shelf A >Shelf B> Shelf C. Then have Shelf C feed into a Brick press and the brick press feed into a safe. That way I have 3 shelves worth of storage able to be bricked up.

At the moment I have about 40 drying racks for 12 pots, but I heard the heavenly quality doesn't do anything at this point. So I might just switch out the drying racks for a dedicated fertilizer botanist.

Yeah, Heavenly Quality for Coke and Pot is overkill at this point since Quality has no effect on the price (unless you use mods) and the highest quality they require is only High Quality.
You could swap them out for just fertilizing them, or you can use PGR and Fertilizer and set the racks to just output purple quality, saves you like 12 minutes for not going to heavenly and you get the extra yield.

if you use the three fert pgr and speed the coca still outputs at blue so you gain 50% grow time 1 botanist tending 4 pots and 4 drying racks supplied from 1 shelf 10 soil 10 seed, 20 of each fertiliser. you will need to resupply the shelf with seed every day the fertiliser every 2 days, exrta long life soil as required. 4 drying racks output to a shelf that handler moves to cauldrons 1 chemist to 2 cauldrons and 2 ovens. you need 28 pots to reliably supply 8 cauldrons/8 ovens so you need 7 botanists, each pot supplies its own drying rack. you will have to carry coca leaves in veeper to cauldrons as youll never get them to fit in 1 building, max 10 workers per and 5 max in bungalow.(my set up there is 4 botanist 1 cleaner. 3 botanist in barn with 4 chemists 2 handlers 1 cleaner)

there is a ramp up time for production and any stoppage. so dont expect it to start producing at max rate for a few days. trick is to keep production going then it evens out. it may look like its not working at first, trust me it does.
