Botanist not working

The botanist says he doesn't have any soil to put in the pots but i have 60 soil in the storage he's connected to
i have tried multiple different storages and soils and he keeps saying he doesn't have any soil.
edit: in case anyone else comes that doesn't understand. the botanist does not recognize the assigned storage. it thinks it's empty. doesn't matter if it's soil or seeds. doesn't matter if i hire another, doesn't matter how many times i restart, doesn't matter how many different storage racks i assign. No doing it a cycle yourself does not fix it either

yeah it's really weird and i have no idea what causes it. none of my workers are working so i just fired them all and am now doing it myself.

also i think my botanist may have stolen 64 cocaine leafs. because half the plants were cut.

Literally just assign them to a shelf with dirt and seeds on it. What's the issue?

They will plant soil however, it seems you have to pour the first bag. If this does not work reload your save and it should fix any issues

1. You have to assign them a shelf. Use that shelf only to store soil (any bag will do) and the seeds.
2. Assign them the pots they will be monitoring. They can manage 8 pots.
3. Assign the destination of where the output of the pots will go, assign them another shelf.
4. Pay them at their bed.

They will take soil from the shelf and pour it into the assigned buckets.

They will take seeds and plant them into the soil.

They will use a watering can to water the soil.

They will cut the buds and move them to another shelf.

Does the worker have a clear path to the rack he is assigned? They have no range to their interactions they need a clear path to touch the object they are interacting with.

first thing that i tested. i tested multiple different storages. i tested storages at different locations. Nothing worked

Botanists only plant seeds, use fertilizer/PGR/speed additives, water and harvest the plants. You have to re-soil the pots yourself. (Plus they operate drying racks later on)

That's why the long-term soil exists.

My botanist doesn't use fertilizer even though there is 6 fertilizer on her assigned storage. She can use the storage since I saw her take seeds from it but she doesn't use the fertilizer.

Edit: Oh nvm I figured out how to make her put fertilizer.

now 2 days later and i tried again and now the work. it's so weird.
