Weed pots & tents - what's the difference?
Hi all, you start out using the all-in-one mini-tent to grow weed, but later on you can buy the separate pots and lights. Is there any benefit to this, or is it purely for aesthetics?

The stuff you unlock later allows for much faster growing, and machine that make applying soil and water MUCH less tedious.
I bought the dock warehouse fairly recently, and I have a setup of 22 pots in the middle, with all the machines. Also 10 drying racks on the outside for drying the coca leaves. It seems to fit well into the space.

Also fyi, the watering and soil machines do not get used by the workers.

And plants in pots grow bigger, yielding more product than in growing tents.

lol
Yes they grow faster, but you missed the most important point - pots can grow 12 units of weed rather than 8.

Coca grows 9 leaves, I haven't tried them in a small grow tent, I assume it would be less, likely 6.

so it's like using PRG on a growth tent, so if you use PRG on a pot you get 16 per plant

They do offer bonus such as make plant grow X% faster combine with the growth lamp who also increase the growth rate by X% you can have a plant that grow in a few minute it might be relevent for coca plant for weed it might even make it super fast

Why would you use the soil and water machines if the worker doesn't need that?
Or it's just for you to work on that plants?

If you decide to specialize in planting yourself, they are for you, if you plan on using botanists, it's more space efficient to not use them.
the soil dispenser is absolutely useless, it shaves maybe 2 seconds off the time to just pour it by hand. the only thing it does is remove the need to open the bag and turn it upside down... which is the best part about soil. if there was a way to add fertilizer to the soil dispenser so it dumps it all in at once, that would be amazingly useful, but alas, it does not. water dispensers are huge time savers as you dont have to fill them up to use them, so you can just run down the line hitting the lever for each then go to bed. of course, if you use botanists, they dont utilize them, unfortunately, they use their magical watering can that never runs out, even if it is super slow.

You're nuts if you think that.

I can have 10+ pots filled by the time it would take to do 2-3 manually.

It takes a mere click to fill one, and then another to have it dispense, so in less than 30 seconds you can have all your pots filled.

The soil and water dispenser is great if you plan on growing the crops manually and sticking close to your grow sites. Otherwise you save a lot of room by removing them from your setup and using Botanists as they do not use either of them. The only reason I can see for using them after having Botanists hired is to save the workers some time in tending to your crops.

If you're manually tending to the crops then yeah, the soil dispenser could be good. Could being the relevant word. The problem is the Soil dispenser is still 1x2 tiles wasted, and that doesn't include the extra tiles you need to leave open so you can manuever around to access them from the side.

As the other guy said, if you could do more with the soil dispenser then it might be worth it like mixing in additives beforehand to skip that process as well it might be worth it. Or being able to stack the water and soil dispenser on top of each other so they take the same space. Hell I'd even settle for that being an upgraded version of the water/soil dispenser at a higher rep level.

But as it is, the Soil Dispenser is the most useless items in the game. The amount of time it saves is negligible until you start talking an absurd number of pots and that point you're just hamstringing your operations by not using workers with Extra-Long Life Soil to manage that for you while you do more important work like working on your mixes.

The only reason not to use botanists with more than 8 pots is because you're suffering performance issues due to how the game handles workers.

dude is a certified time waster
Get the pots. They increase quality and quantity on their own, and later on, you can buy even more special lights and pots once you get access to the black market ;)
