Dedicated server

Is it possible to host a server so me and my friends don’t have to be on at all times? It’s so annoying not having this simple feature. We all have jobs and lives and want to be able to contribute when we can not have to make a calendar schedule in order to play the game. i'd gladly pay monthly for a server if that's what it took.

It's entirely possible, perhaps even in the current state of the game, but would require some decent modification until the devs support it. As far as hosting goes, if the devs offer a dedicated server launcher, then it would be as easy as just spinning up a VPS in the cloud or running on a spare machine which would act mostly as a host for the save file and running the game. It would have to only run if players are not connected to the server so days wouldn't just go on if no one is present.

Factorio has an excellent way of doing this that I hope the devs look to as an example should they decide to support it, although I feel they are more interested in expanding content as of right now.
