Any trick to getting decent performance?
I've got a fairly older setup. But the game doesn't really look like it would require a lot. But I'm consistently getting 20-40 FPS. Including on Low settings, no anti-aliasing, windowed and fullscreen, no vsync. Even Sea of Thieves runs better at 70-100 FPS on the HIGHEST settings. Is there any kind of trick to boosting performance like editing config files? Or is the game just poorly optimized due to being just recently released in Early Access?

My setup is a Ryzen 7 1700x, 32GB RAM, and an RTX 3070.

Comparing triple AAA with a indie studio with one developer. I think it will take a while before we get any optimization but I also don't mind playing with 60 FPS instead of 120.

Yeah we're going to be waiting for a while for proper optimization. It's usually the most time consuming (and thus expensive) part of game development outside of QA/bugtesting. Hence why so few developers/publishers bother with it, and just slap Frame Gen and DLSS into their products. Then the money they chose not to spend on optimization can go into paying for Denuvo instead.

The comparison to a AAA game wasn't my point. The point was a game that is graphically WAY more demanding runs better. I could make the same argument with other games from smaller teams as well.

Also, I'd be completely fine with playing at 60 FPS. But again, you missed the point where I'm getting 20 FPS. Which is borderline unplayable. I wish I could get 60 FPS.
yea. disable v sync
What is your GPU usage when you play compared to your CPU usage?

I have an I511600kf paired with a 3070 and 32gb ram using 1440 res and my performance is absolutely fine.

I have RTX 2060 SUPER and Ryzen 7 5700X3D. 60-90 FPS on high settings. It did not crash once yet too. My guess would be that something is wrong with OP's hardware or maybe CPU is too "weak" for this unoptimized game.

i think you might have a cpu bottleneck that one is pretty old thats just my guess tho

thats what I've been thinking. thankfully next month i'll be on a 9800X3D. so we'll hope to see if that fixes things. but it's just so odd that even on absolute minimum settings, its lagging as badly as it is.

CPU (with other things open including Chrome tabs) is anywhere from 40-60%.
GPU is anywhere from 40-50%.
Neither are maxing out.
