why is business in the game, how does money laundering work in the game, what is the point of it?

it transfers cash to your bank account.
The idea being, deposits at ATM are limited to 10k/week, which quickly becomes a too small amount.

yes and also i would assume the more expensive the business is the more money you can actually put in to launder the cash.
