this game isnt as good as people say it is, it needs still alot of work which at the current state is hardly worth the asking price as its not a full game, this game was hyped up to much, there is things that could have easily been fixed before game even went EA but they are there, especially with the map itself, even with the game being on discount right now is hardly worth the money spent, game also only has about 60 to 70 hrs of actual content and the replay-ability just isnt there really, once ya have it all not much reason to continue, and the game doesnt really have anything unique to it either, pretty much like any other drug sim out there. id rate it mediocre at best but not worth the price in its current state, maybe $10 bucks in its current state with what it has but not $20 even with a discount
Of course it isn't anything groundbreaking, it's just dumb fun and quite frankly dumb affordable fun at that, just like R.E.P.O.
I feel like most of you are getting burnt by triple A which hype their ♥♥♥♥ up on an annual or sometimes even biannual basis and this is because they're working with bloated, inefficient budgets utilizing financial mechanisms like ESG in order to secure more money while hiring people devoid of any real skill or creative vision.
What you end up with is that of the music industry or movie industry, industrialized slop made to be pumped out ad nauseum with the goal of maximizing profits.
Marketing surrounding these products is and has been "hype", whether the press be ravingly good or bad, publicity shines more often than not though I'd say as of late, people are beginning to feel the monotony that comes with these corporations which is amusing considering Schedule 1 has monotony to it, the addicting sort.
What you have here is a simple product as OP stated, one that knows what it is with a scope manageable for the single developer maintaining it. There are no launchers, there's no account creation, no subscription fees, no free-to-play jargon, no always online, no DRM, no DEI, no rootkit anti-cheat, no data harvesting, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ strings attached, it's just a simple game with simple mechanics that are highly addictive which is apt because it's the central theme!
Most people can recognize this addictive loop with relative ease, dopamine hits abound despite its simplicity and soon word spreads and suddenly more and more people are picking it up. It's entirely organic due to the loop itself and as simple as it is, it's a breath of fresh air amid all the other steaming piles of excrement out there that come in year after year again and again and again.
Streamers are always going to be a factor and for a game with the loop it has, I'm not surprised many find it entertaining. It's no secret that the developer gave out early access keys to them, it's a very cheap and effective way at marketing your game assuming it's actually appealing in the first place, which it is, to a lot of people including myself and believe you me I've played many a complex and difficult game before of which this is not. It's rudimentary, grindy but for me, cozy!
What is presented here is a strong core, not an entirely unique core but a strong one that if built upon will in time only get better and better. The bar they set in the demo was solid enough to stand on its own with the addictive gameplay loop, Early Access has revealed a slew of bugs that this single developer is rapidly hotfixing, a lot of work is still yet to be completed and I look forward to seeing just how much better the game becomes from here on.
If it goes the route of something like Phasmophobia then so be it, I've already gotten my moneys worth while retaining my data and unlike a lot of other products out there, you're more than welcome to try the demo and see if it clicks, only thing you'll lose is time.
Like I said, just solid dumb fun with the potential for vast improvements.
This gam is over rated and not only that but also over priced it should be $10 or honestly maybe even $5 right now before discount
I hate to be that guy but 70 hours of playtime is pretty good for a EA game "that is already slated to get a content update" saw the dev say this in another thread .....Some AAA titles @ 100$+ ppl finish in under 60 hours so
