Item locked on shelf

Just recently got to the point i can hire assistance, hired a worker and everything was going fine when i got done assigning and they started working however one of the granddaddy purps they harvested is now locked and i cant interact with it on the shelf. is this a bug? i can interact and take from the other plants he harvested but is just that batch thats locked on the shelf

as far as i can tell its not supposed to happen, iv tried unassigned and reassign the worker to the shelf but that didnt work either

It means an NPC is queued to interact with that particular slot, either adding or removing item(s) from that slot. You can "fix" this by saving your game and reloading...that'll reset the NPCs and get things moving again. You can also knock the npc in question out (use something blunt like fists or a club...don't kill them) and then upon sleeping they'll wake up and be reset again as well.
