No, but it will. It's in the roadmap.

It's so weird that the game doesn't have voice chat, as if co-op interaction with other players is supposed to happen through Discord by default? Ummm... that's not obvious and really dumb because using Discord feels more like a workaround. I found references suggesting that voice chat is planned as an 'Additional feature'—so I guess it'll just be there for the sake of it rather than a proper, engaging gameplay mechanic with communication devices. it's a pitty
I beg to differ discord is there and thats what ppl should use there is no need to put time into in game voice when programs already exist

I think proximity chat would be a neat feature but if it’s not going to be proximity chat, I agree just use discord.

proximity chat yes, but it would be nice to have phone calls to each other as well.

Yeh proximity chat is needed fornthis game. When your buddy goes to the shop or out selling produce. It's immersion to not hear them speak till they are back.
agree

I'd rather have a new dealer over voice chat, I don't really care about "immersion" features that would make it harder to work with my buddies, everything you ask a solo dev to implement is time taken away from other things dev might make

still, it's on the roadmap, so am not sure why ask

There's a lot of ways one can chat with friends/people etc. Discord isn't the only option.

Also, doesn't Steam let you voice chat through Steam Chat? just use that (I played with someone using that while on DayZ) works just fine without the need of another account/app.

And like "StrangeAK" mentioned, phone calls.
Not everybody uses Discord.

Games shouldn't be reliant on third-party services.

Yes, because immersion is so important...in a game where smoking weed can turn you bald instantly, burst your head into flames, turn you into Robert Downy Jr, give you red hair and make you moon jump, because you can mix it with mouth wash, gasoline, motor oil and donuts.
I’m just imagining what the game would be like with proximity chat and working texting and calling through the phone. Imagine you’re cooking something and someone text’s or calls you asking if everything is ready. Or your in the middle of a task and someone try’s calling you but you don’t pick up and they come find you to see what you’re up to. I think it adds some neat roleplaying aspects to the game. If in the future you can work against one another in a game then imagine you think some of your members are planning something against you but you don’t know for sure so you stand close enough to where you can hear them talking to each other, plotting. I think it would add a fun aspect. Of course it should be toggleable for those that just want normal Discord calls and stuff like that. I just think it would be neat

You're cool, you've described everything I think.
