how can i tell how many employees each location can have?

I don’t think there is a limit. At one point I had 7 employees in the barn. (4 botanist, 2 handlers, 1 chemist) and as long as you can give them a bed, you can hire them.

There is a limit and it shows on the board before you buy them. IIRC, the Barn can have up to 10 employees.

thank you very much i got 8 beds in the barn right now. i wanted 6 chemist and 4 handlers so that should work for me. full on meth operation im building out.

sadly, still only 10 allowed at the docks. You have way more space than you actually need because of this

chinese sweatshop = 1 worker
bungalow = 5 (updated)
barn = 10 workers
docks = 10 workers

docks and warehouse should be lower... 10 is too many, it makes it way too easy to bring in endless amount of money pretty quickly and have no need for us to do anything but restock the products and do a handful of sales to the highest paying customers

Lot of times irl friends don't want to play. And while I have found some decent randoms to play with, the fact that this game became popular because of streamers means half the people in the MP community are little kids who want to use exploits to get ahead, or just straight-up cheat with console commands and then they get bored and quit when they cheated out everything there is to do.
