Overwhelmingly positive...
...is the verdict for this game thus far. However I see over 2000 original comments, maybe half of them with bug references, crashes, incompatibility problems, etc. (And yes, I know it is EA). Yet I see very few responses from the dev. That's pretty worrisome. I realize it's only one dev, which means he obviously needs help with addressing the comments. Anyone have any inside info of what is going on with the lack of replies? I really wanted to buy this game, but held back at the last second when I saw the never ending list of comments. I have enough games that I cannot get help with as it is.
Really love the art work on this.

First point, it's overwhelmingly positive for a reason. Given inflation and everything this is probably worth a lot more than 20 but the market's decided that indie games can't sell for more than that. It's a combination of fun and engaging that no other game in its genre I've seen can match. Drug dealer simulator 1 and 2 has a cool open world but the actual production process doesn't come close to being as interesting and interactive as this.

The bugs mostly seem to be with worker pathing and management, which I haven't reached yet in the game and have only seen on youtube videos. They do get pretty bad later in the game although it doesn't seem to impact your ability to make money. The youtuber I watched with the game (Jolly Roger) also packed all his stuff in the barn and I think it would do better if he ran about half of what he was doing, and even with all the issues and not using the mixer he's still progressing and making plenty of money and exp, so other than a few softlocks there's nothing outright gamebreaking so far. It might also work better if he didn't try to keep every class of product on sale and just focused on the more advanced stuff. Once you've unlocked something my feeling of the game is it's best to just move on to that and delist the old product. Just sell the most expensive weed strain, etc. That said the game doesn't lock you into that and if you just want to focus on one type of drug that's a more than valid playstyle especially with mixing (which you can use or ignore after you complete the related quest).

As for the lack of response I agree it isn't a great look but as you mentioned, it's one guy. I will tell you I reported a post yesterday (someone calling the OP some very nasty things) and had a message this morning that action had been taken. He also has a bug report system in the game itself. He's interested in feedback and seems to take action, he just doesn't post which, with the work and stress involved in a release week, I get.

Hold off and see what comes out for a bit if you want, it's only 10% off right now so it's not like you're missing the sale of a lifetime. Personally I'm having a blast and taking my time with the early game.

I think my favorite thing about it is there's nothing really forcing you forward. If you want to just stay a small time weed or meth operation in the bungalow with a couple workers and dealers that's a valid choice, or you can work your way into the warehouse and deal a veritable candyshop of donut enriched narcotics. It's open world in the best sense in that other than unlocking items and customer bases, there's nothing forcing you into a specific playstyle and nothing demanding you min-max your operation other than your own drive to if that exists.

It's earned the reviews. There's a lot of work going forward for the dev to refine and bugfix the experience but I'm also easily getting my $16 worth.

huh? you must be blind because there has been a patch out everyday to fix issues this game has been out
He’s made 3 patches since release. It’s a big game for 1 person and he’s doing a good job.

They’re quite a few bugs with the casino, workers, and quite a few other things.

However, the game is refreshing, it’s new, and I know the game dev loves the game. It’s not just slop from a AAA dev team for a quick Buck. There’s so much to this game, and there’s so much this guy can add.

Thanks for the detailed response. I think you are right, for myself at least, I should wait awhile, monitor how it's doing and purchase at a later date. Honestly, I have a ton of games I haven't even started yet. But the art style in this really caught my eye. I have the same problem with shiny things, LOL. Thanks again G.

I wish all games launched this well
the dev has released patches both days since release. Travis is definitely on it. He doesnt have time to get in here in General Discussions. If you want to be heard at all, go to Suggestions or whatever.
been running fine for me, also updates seem frequent...

Game is so successful the devs just paid to get the front page cover like a AAA game. Dang son
Why would a dev come here and waste time trying to comment on the thousands of threads right after a game release? He is busy trying to patch the bugs and has already released multiple patches to fix them. You are putting stock in the wrong things.

It's all on discord
He's working everyday on pushing daily patches out.
I'm pretty sure he's in Australia so he's mostly asleep during the day.
Most "so-called" problems could be solved by users themselves
with the use of one or two synapses. But thinking isn't modern. Unfortunately.

Certainly not. I am not an explainer or a masochist.
It would also be pretty pointless (see Questions and Problems).
It's almost embarrassing. A little thought and experimentation would be enough. :FS19potato: :2017tp:
More shovelware. Great. Exactly what Steam needs
