Right, but think of it like back in the day when you would borrow your xbox or nintendo games to a buddy. When they had the disk / cart, you couldn't play it.

Why would any developer allow family share access to buy one license and allow 6 people to play it. Everyone would have a massive family share and all the games would only have 1/6th the amount of sales.

We're lucky that anyone even allows this anymore, be thankful this developer only charges $20. If you can't give a solo dev that created one of the best games $20 then I don't know what to tell you. Support the guy if you want to play together. Freaking crazy man.....
we are in the digital age were family sharing is a thing as stated by steam above

Digital age or not, first off, you obviously can't read a FAQ page. Second, why would the "digital age" matter when it comes to one person buys something and then lets multiple others use it. This just isn't how life works, you should know this. My point is that only steam allows this, and xbox if you are on the owner's "home xbox". Otherwise, since digital releases were a thing, it was one person / license, period.

Give the dude $20

I don't know where you're getting that l

Steam Families Feature Overview

Creating a Steam Family:
Steam Families can contain up to 6 family members.
Steam Families can be managed via Steam Client, mobile device, or web browser.

Family Sharing:
Access to all games owned by family members.
New Steam Family library appears in the games list section.
Ownership of games remains with the purchaser; new purchases appear in your collection.
Personal saved games, achievements, and workshop access for shared games.
Ability to play a family member’s game simultaneously, even if another game is being played

I don't know where you're getting that line "ability to play a family member's game simultaneously. If you go to the steam page about family share and look through the FAQ you see:

"Can two users share a library and both play at the same time?
No, a shared library may only be accessed by one user at a time."

You see the word "ANOTHER" in that line right? Meaning if your family member is playing one game you can play ANOTHER game. English hard...

What happens if the game I want to play from my Steam Family is in use?

If another member of your Steam Family also owns the game with identical DLC, Steam will launch that copy instead. If there is no copy with identical DLC, Steam will look for any copies of the same game and ask you if you want to switch to playing one of those copies instead, but your saved games may or may not work with different sets of DLC. If there are no other copies available in your Steam Family, you can either wait for the game to be available or buy another copy.

You may have the ability to play a copy of the game simultaneously but that doesn't mean you automatically have the right to do so. If you don't have enough licenses, you don't have the right to do so.

honestly though. I worked a few years in IT and many years in customer service. People just like to complain without ever doing any critical thinking.

you've never been able to do that for any game lol

Yes, you can simultaneously play 2 different games from your library. That's how it works

... even if another game is being played.
Lets break down this language for you to understand.
Simultaneous means that both you and any one of the 6 family members can play different games from the same library at the same time. It does not mean the same game at the same time from the same library.

Read the link that you posted lol...what a dumbass if you scroll down the text in the link you posted you will see

"Can we go through a real world example of how a Steam Family might share games?

Of course! Let's say that you are in a family with 4 members and that you own a copy of Portal 2 and a copy of Half-Life. At any time, any one member can play Portal 2 and another can play Half-Life. If two of you would like to play Portal 2 at the same time, someone else in the family will need to purchase a copy of the game. After that purchase, there are two owned copies of Portal 2 across the family and any two members can play at the same time.

In this example, if your family choose to not buy a second copy, you can play any other game in your library while waiting for your family member to finish playing your copy of Portal 2."

You don’t get 2 copies of the game just because you share it with some one. Key word being SHARE. They can play when you’re not or you can play when they are not. You can simultaneously play a game whilst she is playing schedule 1 but you cannot both play the same game at the same time unless you buy 2 copies. Companies would lose millions if that was the case and in this case it’s a 1 man band. Pay the extra £15 it’s really not much otherwise take it in turns 😂
