I've encountered this problem several times. Usually, I assign 4 cauldrons to a single worker. The solution I found is to take the cauldron that isn't working and assign it to a different worker.

Example:
Oven x4 / Cauldron x4 →
Oven x3 / 1 Cauldron
Oven x1 / 3 Cauldrons

I don't really understand this issue either.

I would imagine it's probably due to the fix that was applied to keep them from breaking entirely. Before, people had to assign 1 chemist per cauldron or they'd become non-interactable. I'm guessing whichever fix was applied added some other new minor bugs like this.

Are you playing multiplayer? We have the issue or rather my gf does. She is the client I host. We both don't use workers for the cauldrons. Her leaves disappear but not mine. Just one of many issues with multiplayer atm.
