IN-GAME TRENCHES BUILDING
Dear creators of this game, I hope i know why we call WW1 ''trench war''. So why u cant add a possability for soldiers build some trenches? Seriusly, the sandbags arent trenches, and for the real ww1 warfare trenches are necesarry. Plz add some.

Trenches can't be built in 15 seconds whereas sandbags are unrealistic by that measure, but not nearly as much, which is why they are allowing.
1) If this game where 100% realistic it will be uninteresting. Soldiers got health, armor repairs in 3 minutes, so if they will dig trenches 2-3 minuts it will be ok
2) The creators even didnt gave soldiers sandbags, but if you will research history of ww1, you will know that ALL soldiers during ww1 got small other big shovels specially for digging new trenches after charge. You just can ask google
3) Trenches will give this game more tactical elements, it will be really big step from Men of War tactic without trenches.

Men of War has never really been about building stuff. It's always been about destruction - that's what the game engine was designed for. Besides, with my modding experience, I don't think it's possible to build AND destroy trenches with this game engine - they're treated as cut entities, which physically remove a chunk of the ground. Not very easy, if at all, to put that piece back.

Trenches would be nice, if only you could destroy them. Otherwise, maps would just turn into trench system withint 15 minutes. :P And as we all know, stalemate is neither fun nor good for gameplay.

If you want buildable trenches, try the TGW 1918 mod for CoH (a shameless plug from a dev).

Yeah, i have played CoH a lot, and i was verry happy to find ww1 mod for it. But i leave it for two reasons: first, this is very VERY unrealistic game, and second, it got no multiplayeer, nobody plays it. So when i found Battle of empires i thounght at trenches first. But this was my biggest mistake) Also i knew, that it will be hard to add destructiable trenches in game. But, as i sad, the one of the main points of ww1 was trench warfare. And without trenches it will be game without balls, if you know what i mean)

It's hard enough to attack in battle zones with the current cover if your enemy locks down the zone. Imagine it if there were trenches everywhere. I think just adding it would ruin game balance.
arty arty arty ARTY BEATCH
or germans stoss truppen as opinion
or tanks as second opinion
if there is trenches defense it isnt mean that its uncrasheble

@Mr Liberator
Well, the mod is obviously a lot more realistic than vanilla CoH - but there's only so much we can do. ;)

Most of the maps do have trenches in them - just that you can't build them yourself. They're pretty good by my standards.
But the basic trenches arent interesting: their shown on enemy map and didnt change from game to game. It didnt give you intiative in defence, you just put troops in trenches

I think trenches are an integral part of any WWI game, and without trenches it will be sorely lacking in the eyes of most.
Shells and explosives can make craters, so why shouldn't they be able to destroy trenches?
I say with all my heart that this game MUST have trenches IMO :)

At least have shell scrapes.
There is over 9000 games with shell scrapes and without real time trenches digging. But scrapes cant substitute trenches, seriusly.

Adding trenches can be done simply enough - it's in the Totaler Krieg mod for MoW (which isn't released yet, mind you), so it's not as if it's impossible. My only worry is that you can't actually remove them like you can in other games, which can lead to some REALLY bad pathfinding for vehicles.

Having your guy dig shell scrapes is different then having a crater already there. I think you may be thinking of just craters

i'm for trenches also thats a big part of ww1

Trenches to build would be cool i think maybe in the deployment time before the game starts the defender could place a limited number of pieces to build his own system without soldiers, who had to work, like the system would have been build before the battle
