Can't Go Down and Left Diagonally

I'm pretty sure it's not the controller I use, but whenever I try to make my character walk left and down diagonally, they just get stuck there. They can go every other direction fine and operate cannons while doing it, but I just can't go down and left diagonally for whatever reason. Is there a way to fix this?
