Can't put bug on grandfather clock

Hi, there. First time player. I'm having trouble at the new york hotel (2nd in-game location). I couldn't get the Elvis wannabe to move, so I looked up the answer to the puzzle. According to every walkthrough I've seen, I'm supposed to look at the grandfather clock, talk to Alfonso about the grandfather clock, then put a dead bug on the grandfather clock.

The problem is, I've activated the grandfather clock discussion, but after going to get the bug, the game won't let me put it on the clock. Is this a glitch or am I missing something not outlined in any walkthrough?

i get stuck in the same place for hours the first time i played this game.

i play it 2 years ago,the last time,i dont remember that part.only i can remember you cant go to the windows becouse elvis says something and the girl in the closet.is just all what i remember.

I also had problems with that part. What I had missed was that I had not checked the fumigation area with the eye icon. Make sure you have done that and then talk with Alfonso before planting the bug.

Sloko is right. For anyone else who has trouble here, yes, you need to check the fumigation sign. What I was missing was a line of conversation with Alfonso after that, apparently. I'm not sure if I just didn't check at first, or if some bug didn't let it load. Either way I restarted the game and happened upon that line of conversation my second time there.
