In Trade Conquest you don't start controlling a nation but instead, you start with a "Home" Nation. You could potentially become citizen of another country and then become the Head of State of that new Home nation.
You cannot control a province as a governor, but instead, Economically. By building industries and buying off other national or even foreign industries within that province. Eventually expanding across your selected nation and even other countries that you have Business Agreements with.
If you choose to you can become an Authoritarian Head of State by using your Influence gained through wealth, and pushing for bills in your favor.
The core concept of the game is starting off as an investor/Business person/Entrepreneur.. with little, building massive wealth (Trading/Selling resources in markets) such as a billionaire/oligarchy status, and finding out how Wealth equals Influence in this world to be able to control your/other nations laws, nation itself, and how it funds wars and Conquest.
How you get there, well, people have very different paths.
