Untapping an Attacking Creature still causes damage?
I played Bounding Krasis on an attacking creature selecting to untap it just as it was declared to attack. It untaps but still did damage to me. So I'm wondering if this is a bug or a legitimate rule (that I forgot).

Can an attacking creature still do damage after being untapped, even before the damage phase kicks in?

I know that if you "block" an attacking creature then remove the blocker, like sacrificing it, damage does not go through. I thought untapping an attacker worked the same way, or am I wrong?

No. Tapping or untapping a creature won't remove it from combat.

The issue isn't a rule you forgot; it's that you assumed a rule existed that didn't.

tapping/untapping has no influence on combat damage. It is only there to decide if you can attack/block or not. You would need to play the krasis pre combat if you want to use its tapping ability

You can also tap a creature after declaring it as a blocker. Even if the dmg will be lethal. So always remember to use your 0/3 scry fish even if used as a chomp blocker

It still is declared as attacking, by untapping you just allow to block next turn or use abilities (and some cards only affect tapped/untapped creatures of course)
Rules in magic have to be read word-by-word and if they don't say anything in particular, then it's as if there's no rule about it at all. Like in your case, the attacking creature is considered attacking unless a card prevents it by blocking or with card text. Same for the blocked state in your other example.

even when the attacking creature is blocked it is still considered attacking. Otherwise cards like celestial flare or anointer of champions wouldnt make much sense

Ok, so technically I could declare an attacker, then untap it before my opponent could declare any blockers, and it would still do damage across the board? That's bizzare.
Untapping an attacking creature hasn't removed that creature from being attacking in like 15 years in MTG the card game...

THere are quite a few rules quirks in duels (like lowering toughness instead of marking damage), but this isn't one...

Untapping a creature used to stop an attacking creature from dealing combat damage though, iirc.
