Looked at the guides section? I know there's at least a few solid starter decks for goldgrinding, there.

they are good but it wont be good against other people or hard A.I
I would start by playing the story mode through all the way. It'll net you a fair amount of gold to get a few packs. White/red weenie is one of the best decks to put together early on. Green/red is also fairly viable. You probably won't be able to start out facing Hard A.I. right out of the gates, well I should clarify, you won't be able to win against hard A.I. all the time right out of the gates. Within a few days of playing easy/medium A.I. I was able to unlock enough cards to put together a really good deck or two that consistently beat Hard A.I.. It really will boil down to what cards you pull early on as to what decks will be best to build first. But remember, just like with anything you try, you can't expect perfection right out of the blocks. If you are new to this game, think of it in terms of chess, you can't expect to compete at the highest level the second you learn the rules. It takes practice to get there. Don't lose heart, everyone starts out where you are and it's through play and a little dedication that gets you to the higher levels of skill and play. Good luck man.

Your welcome. Just don't give up. I've been playing Magic for twenty years now. Best game in the world IMO.

What Dex said. Story + Skill Quests.

Then monored, w/r aura, or g/r ramp. Play A.I on Hard, it plays mostly tricolors (understand slow) decks, that generally stay inactive for 3/4 turns. Avoid Easy and Medium as, in my experience, they tend to play faster decks.

You could also try to make a Green/White Enchantments deck. 4x Sunblade Elves, 4x the White 1-drop with 2/1, 10 Enchantments, 22 lands and more cheap (1 or 2 mana) creatures.

Just for fun I looked through all the starter red cards to see what kind of a deck you could build only with those. It's basically a budget version of the RDW I use for getting gold from Hard AI. I doubt it would have much trouble winning most the time when played well and if you have even a few other red cards to swap in, it will probably do quite well. Maybe someone else has posted something like it somewhere but here is my take:

Starter Red Deck
-------------------------

-26 Creatures-
4 Goblin Arsonist
*4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Perilous Myr
3 Ember Hauler
*4 Goblin Piker
3 Flaring Flame-Kin
*4 Scrapyard Mongrel

-12 Spells-
4 Inferno Fist
4 Twin Bolt
4 Traitorous Instinct

22 Mountain

* Replace for something better when you can. I'd go with some more cheap red enchants and burn

I hate to post just a starter deck without really knowing exactly you kind of cards you already have... so I'll suggest a cheapish deck thats been tested at rank 40 and vs hard ai (80-90% winrate) with alternatives to some rare cards and reasons why I chose those specific cards.

Red Aggro

3 Goblin Glory Chaser ( Almost always gets renowned when dropped on turn 1. Good early chip dmg cuz can't be blocked most of the time. Replacement: Foundry Street Denizen)

3 Goblin Arsonist (Another one drop to improve chances of getting 1 drop on on turn 1)

2 Molten Vortex (Mid game finisher and makes land draws not as bad. Replacement: Titan Strength)

1 Fiery Impulse (Removal to push through dmg synergy with Mage Ring Bully)

2 Titan Strength (Dmg + scry away land. You only need 5 land in play max with this deck)

4 Perilous Myr (Garenteed 2 dmg)

2 Abbot of Keral Keep (This deck's card draw great on turn 4-5 when running out of steam Replacement: Ember Hauler or Inferno Fist or Firey Impulse)

4 Mage-Ring Bully (Lots of synergy with the amount of spells in the deck)

4 Infectious Bloodlust (Enchantments for our token/ low drops with added card draw so harder to run out of steam. Replacement: Inferno Fist)

4 Twin Bolts (Can shoot Face, kill minions to push through, finish off dmged minions after trades or surprise buff Mage-Ring Bully for advantageous trades after opponent blocks)

4 Dragon Fodder (Good against Reave Souls/Flesh Bag. Creates tokens to buff)

2 Exquisite Firecraft (Push through + Face dmg spell. Replacement: Act of Treason/Traitorous Instinct)

1 Pia and Kiran Nalaar (More tokens. Can sacrifice tokens for instant dmg. Replacement: Traitorous Instinct)

1 Embermaw Hellion (Finisher. Only card in deck that survives Langish. Trample. Replacement: Traitorous Instinct)

Land: 23 Mountains
Creature: 18
Spells: 19

Honorable Mentions:

Avaricious Dragon: Really Good in this deck Sometimes game winning if it ever gets to midlate game vs human players piloting control decks.

Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh: Belongs probably in a slightly less all-in red aggro. Good if ever you get into mid late game and somehow opponent can't remove Chandra for 1 or more turns

RW Starter Enchant. No boosters necessary to build this deck. 5-0 in first five games against Hard AI. https://youtu.be/EU3zZcKqJBo

Strategy of this deck is to get Nimbus Wings on a Flaring Flame-Kin or Juggernaut. How an ideal game plays out. Early turns play a few creatures that double as burn and clear away your opponent's creatures with Twin Bolt. Turns 4 and 5 get an enchantment on a high power creature. From then on play removal and get your big creature through for 5 damage a turn. Pop your early game creatures and Twin Bolt to reach for lethal.
