This isn't Magic the Gathering: Origins.

They don't need to balance the game. Magic the gartherting is balanced by WOTC. You don't see those who are playing paper magic are complaining the game is not balanced.

The only way they know to "balance" the game is to reduce the power of cards. Still you see people are complaining about Willbreaker, Gaea's Revenge. Those cards are junks in paper. Thanks to their good job of "balancing" the game. These cards are "broken" now.

Cuz Origins is merely a set in the whole MTG, so really powerful cards, op even are balanced because of it.

Here Origins is all there is and later Battle for Zendikar wil be added, so those power cards would just be straight op and broken.

Different cardpool, different balance.

Some cards use the mana pool which this game doesn't acoomodate, some are legacy/modern/edh plants, some break the colour pie a bit too much to put in a product for beginers, some are sideboard only cards and some are cards you don't want to give to new players (painlands) and some are there to interplay with the last set and next set. Also there is probably some dropped for balance issues since duels dosen't let you use 4 of each card.

So why they dont just go for Core Set in the first place?
I mean there are 100! Cards missing from origins, you cant tell me that Yoked Ox is OP

I'd probably say it's dropped cause it's a limited card normally, this or a similar card iirc featured in a standard deck at some point.

It's a pity they didn't include that black mythic where you lose the game after a few turns. The shenanigans around that card would have been hilarious.

so duels doesnt compete with paper magic

they confirm on twicth, the Battle for zendikar will have only 80% of cards

My guess is that they wanted as few cards as possible to guarantee a diverse playing experience while diminishing the grinding thing, and that some cards might be too complex for the current Duels rules engine to handle (Day's End and The Great Aurora, I'm looking at you).

Officially, it's one of the ways to differentiate this game from paper and MtGO, it is considered a portal to those two games and at the same time gives established players a F2P outlet to satiate their Magic jones if you will. In other words, they are giving you a glimpse of what's in the set, and just enough to make the game interesting for established players while not competing with their main two revenue streams.

While similar to magic, this game has it's own ruleset (no manapool, no priority, and it doesn't have the full set of phases, and rarity restrictions for some examples). As such, some cards simply won't work in this game (Dark Petition, The Great Aurora, etc).

Also, Wizards doesn't balance a set to be played constructed by itself. They balance new sets for play in limited and standard, and to a lesser extent for extended, modern, and vintage. Seeing as this game only has a single set of cards currently, Wizards would not have properly balanced the game by just importing the Origins set.

Why do you need OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION to tell you why they didn't put hard to program or pointless stuff in? Are you desperately emailing WoTC subject: this is not a YOKE body: let me OX you a question about your origins card choices because this is my day's undoing? have you considered running a petition, perhaps a dark one?
If you wanna look at why they shouldn't add every card, go look at MTGO, which has made tens of millions of dollars and yet remains a feature incomplete garbage beta for longer than half the people on this forum have been alive.
