How do some people have more than 53 cards in their decks?
I am a complete rookie at this game and I cant figure out how people have 60+ cards in their deck when I battle them. Can anyone please give me some insight?? Thanks in advance.

Are you unsure why someone would intentionally build a deck with more than 60 cards, or are you unsure of the rules of deck construction?

The deck wizard works off a 60 card deck (which is the minimum size).

If you build your own deck without the wizard, then the limit is 100 cards (60 is still the minimum, and your deck can not consist of more than 50% lands).

OK so you can put more than 60 in your deck. Thanks for the info:)

The "53" you are seeing are the card sin the LIBRARY plus the 7 cards in your hand , equals the 60.

Yes but you should'nt. The more card you have the less efficient your deck will be.

You usually don't see it often because bulky decks aren't efficient. You're less likely to get the cards you need the more over sixty you are. Some people still can't fight the urge to put every card they like in a deck.

Some poeple doesn't need efficient decks but fun ones, i run 63 cards in every deck just to have more situations and random, i don't want decks that run always the same cause it's no fun.

I sometimes play 250+ card decks in standard just for the fun of it (ever since I tried Battle of Wits). Singleton, of course, except for fixing. You get to see a lot of interactions between cards that usually don't make it into the same deck and you can have the most hilarious topdecks. It is especially fun to play against a similar built deck!

On paper magic I usually play decks with 70 to 80 cards because there are so many cards I like and it breaks my heart if I had to restrict them to a 60 card deck :-P thankfully I am not restricted it would mean less fun and enjoyment for me. On the other side I see a problem when playing a rank based system like here in duels where players could choose to play decks that attack the opponents deck (discard to 0) Facing an opponent who runs a 100 card deck would be kind of unfair then

Running more than 60 cards could be seen as something like a counter-measure to mill-decks, but the draw-inconsistency would still make it undesirable I think. Also mill-decks is not much of a problem in the current meta - they do exist but are not too strong.

I've lost to one yesterday, it was a tempo/mill and if it has it's blue enchant soon it can won 20 minutes later...
Well if i cross that deck again i quit and let the player alone in his pleasure while i'm doing 2 or 3 other games. The same for the slow counter spell deck...
I've noticed that a lot of players takes time to do...nothing most of the time.

They're never doing nothing, they are either thinking, bluffing, mind games or more thinking.

Yeah, and this guy right now "Vagoulas" was losing the game for sure and he could have just quit but he lasted his turns to the max of time in case i got bored and quit first.
It's not about grinding but i could have done 3 or 4 vs the Hard AI in the same time...
I'm back online and it's awfull, i do prefer the AI to this kind of players...In the hope it gets better decks with the nex expansion.

The one time I faced a mill deck I won with 2 cards left in my library. I was happy :)

I cant pick more than 60 cards, nether wizard or deck building, so how come I meet opponents with 100 cards!?

This is just the worst kind of person... Just so you know (if you are this kind of person) I'm not going to quit. Just... stop please. Nobody has any respect for you in doing these actions.

As for the 100 card decks:
I thought for a moment that maybe they knew something I didnt. So I made a 100 card deck. I took one of my deck strategies and gave it the max number of each card. I lost horribly. I really dont understand how these decks beat me sometimes! Its embarrasing lol

Simply put, keep your deck at 60 cards. If you are unsure what to take out, a lot of times you can just take out extras of cards you have. I find that its better to have only 2 of most enchantments. There arent many good choices for having just a singleton in your deck, unless its legendary. Sometimes, I will have decks from 61-63 cards, but these extra are those evolving wilds, because if you get one it is immedietly replaced by another land in your deck, so its basically like not really having a card + bonus chance to get a land.
