This card causes lots of rage, but the deck and card is not the powerhouse it can seem at times.

I play the deck, but would be happy to tell you the weak points of the deck if you are interested.

In 2HG double decking mill is pretty ruthless. You have extra life but you still have the same 60 card library and 2 players milling the same target is very fast.

There should be some cards to reverse the mill. Something that puts cards from graveyard back to library and can also target a team mate.

Or simply an Elixir of Immortality type complete reshuffle. Mill decks have access to counters to prevent that.

Defeat the opponent faster, use disenchants or counters, or accept a bad matchup.

Play Esper/Orzhov control if you dislike it so much.

Paper magic has much more annoying mill decks, trust me.

I think a compromise would be to restrict it to two copies in a deck.

This, this times a thousand.

Well yeah it does also break 2HG rules to run 6 copies in the team so shifting it to rare would help. But as we get more mill cards the double decking turbo mill would still be a thing.

However, tutelage is not the only problematic card that breaks the 4 copies per team -rule in 2HG. Running 8x Thermo-Alchemist comes to mind as it already becomes twice as powerful in 2HG.

But I guess enforcing that rule is simply impossible when you play 2HG with random partners.

its a pretty gay card but thier is ways to beat it, like enchanment kill cards , counter it , bounce it ,exile it, ect.

When it causes rage it is because opponents have a counter for everything. They draw cards, discard and keep the counters.

..and you cant even make a consistent mill deck in Duels.

For some reason losing to mill or discard is much worse than losing to a good old creature stomp. It must be the feeling of being controlled and denied. That's why mtg is so amazing. Game designers did great there.

If you're losing to Sphinx's Tutelage (and not the fact it's featured in heavily obnoxious counter decks),

Make a faster deck, or make something that can stop their mill. There's plenty of things out there that stop enchantments; having a few in your deck is a good plan if you're running something slower.

Unfortunately, because this game is always a 1-off so there's no sideboard, decks that are easily managed in paper MTG are exceptionally obnoxious in Magic Duels. I would love if they introduced a best-of-3 format into this game.

I like Sphinx's Tutelage. It's a fair card. I wanted to play Mill, but I didn't have any mill cards so I started buying SOI boosters to get Startled Awake and Ongoing Investigation, only to complete the entire set and see that those cards are omitted for some reason. Sphinx's Tutelage is one of the only real repeatable mill effects and it's not even that good.
