planeswalker deck
so i guess some people think that shoving every single planeswalker in a deck and play boardstall 50 minute games is the fun and smart way to play magic. does this trend dissapear at higher ranks? I see a lot of this in the 20-25 average, does it get more varied in the 30s?

There is a specific meta in higher ranks. The planeswalker decks have trouble against Vehicles and you tend to see more Mardu/Red Black/Red White Vehicle lists in 30-40 than Super Friends.

normally it's the higher the rank the less variety, so you'll see lots of same archtypes at ranks 30-40. i don't know though what the current meta is and if planeswalkers are in it or just below.
but if you want to play against different and interesting decks, i'd suggest to stay somewhere around 15-25.

I don't see why poeple think SF is an unimaginetive Archetype. The deck is suprisingly hard to construct powerfull. Which early game do you play, which walkers do you leave out, which mass removal, which air control, wich oaths and how many, which colours do you play, 5 colour, non black, non red? And don't get me started on the manabase.
Since there are so many one offs and at least 4 colours this deck is a nightmare to build conssistent and there are yo many people who get it wrong.

nightmare to build and nightmare to play and nightmare to play against since the strategy seems to be get planeswalker on the board and whichever survive will build your strategy which will probably involve you agonizing to keep your planes alive and get more on the board. Its not weak enough to be unplayable and its not strong enough to consistantly win games so its like waiting for someone to scan all their lottery tickets at the grocery, its absolutely legal and ok, but it sucks to experience. I think Monky's advice is good, ill try to stay in the lower bracket as it is true you see all sorts of emerging strategies.

There are only so many powerful cards, so there are only so many powerful decks. This is why there tends to be less variety in the top ranks.

Superfriends needs specific answers, and so does the decks that easily beats SF - like red aggro and counter-based control. If you have a deck that's good against all three, you'll join the high-rank meta.

Top tier meta game tends to converge on 2 to 4 decks no matter the format.

I have a friend who likes playing decks that are just a selection of rares / mythics (so naturally lots of planeswalkers); he says that it's fun to play because of MD's restriction (1 mythic, 2 rare) no two games are the same.

nightmare to play against

That's subjective. I don't mind playing against them at all. There's only one type of deck that I hate playing against: fog-mill; although red got a weapon against that with Amonkhet.

This.

I've seen/vs a number of players who think shoving any Planeswalkers they have together with a bunch of random cards will be super-powerful. Much like when a kid buys a Planeswalker deck with those shoddy promo walkers and puts it in every deck he builds 'cos it's a planeswalker.

Usually I see a LOT of Red/Blue Thing in Ice between 12-18

When you see that you cant win the early game , he has planeswalkers on the board, unplug internet and AI cant play planewalkers any better than Vehicles. Let them click there way to victory for 20 min. with AI and you still have a shot at winning.

Why would you cut black or red, the colours with the most/best removal/sweepers? IMO, blue is the weakest colour for PWs and a great deal of players go the Abzan route.
As for the manabase, just jam all the duals, except the always-tapped-zendikar ones, aether hubs, evolving wilds and basics at your discretion.

I disagree with many of that, but I don't really care to explain all of it since its not really important. Just for the colors: red and black have the least walkers. but you're right, you could cut blue, too. The core of the deck is white green plus one two or three other colors, depending on how many walkers and how much support you want to play.

planeswalkers + vehicles + couple gods.and no single sorcery xD Had problems on start against rushing red/green(or black) but higher see decks similar to mine .

I've seen this a number of times where instead of constructing with the Walkers properly, they have just done what you said and lost constantly.
