Shandalar Magic the Gathering 1997 Microprose
That game was a gem and amazing with deckbuilding hunting down cards to build your decks ENEMIES with abilities and dungeons with unique rules each own... Microprose (UFO Enemy Unknown, Colonization and other great strategies).

I wish wizards would give licence to someone to build a new updated shandalar (i don't even care about the graphics they could be pixels for all i care) with new cards.

Post here if you would want to see something like that.

I still, even now, fire up the old Shandalar game and play it a bit. It really was well done, would love to see a sequel.

I still play Shandalar from time to time myself. Good times.

WOTC should track down some of those Microprose programmers and BEG them to replace Stainless.

Yeah microprose was a magic Company....

Don't forget Master of Magic, which also helped get me into MtG. From the same company.

I don't seem to react well to the ante system, but with the ability to reload the game in order to produce an undefeated run, I have managed to get 4662 years of peace.

I really liked the Rabid Wombat. I used to have one of those.
Yeah it'd be cool if they released an adventure game like Shandalar, but with updated mechanics, cards, and rules.

AFAIK, the game doesn't use the stack and only goes up to 4th. or 5th. Edition.

+1 for an updated Shandalar. As others already said, that game was a gem !

+1.

A role-playing game where you collect cards instead of loot and gear? GENIUS.

I would have no objection to a Shandalar MMO.........

Yeah, Shandalar mecanisms would be great for a MMO, sign me in anytime !

I'm pretty sure, out there somewhere, is a fan-made patch that allows shandalar to run on modern windows. I believe it also adds alot more cards. I checked it out last year and remember playing the gaunlet game mode with a power 9 deck. Turn one wins only!

If the old Microprose game went up on GOG or Steam it would be a first day purchase from me. That game was incredibly fun.

Microprose also did some amazing simulators: F117A was amazing back in the day, same as F1. F1 hot seat multiplayer was so fun.
That MtG game was very very good. Somehow Puzzle Quest used to bring memories of it.
