Hey, everyone! To celebrate the launch of Buddy Up!, we're starting a new community event challenging YOU to cook all of Chef's available Recipes!

• Step One: Unlock and cook 70/80 of Chef's Recipes!
  
  • Note: The following recipes require materials not currently available in the game: TV Dinner, Shock-shouka, Seafood Tower, Screen Saver Shake, Power de Queijo, Giga Sours, Fried PC, Comparison Pie, Coffee Cake, and Tom Kha Giga. These are not required to complete this community challenge.
• Step Two: Join the Lynked Discord server[discord.gg], then share a screenshot (or recording) of your completed Recipes in the ⁠🥐│cook-a-thon channel!
  
  • You can access the Recipes tab by opening the BuddyOS (clicking "Tab" on the keyboard or the "Options/Select" button on the controller.)
• Step Three: Share an additional screenshot showing your two favorite Battle Companions!

So, you want to join the resistance but aren’t sure where to start? Have no fear—we’ve created a list of tips and tricks to help you hit the ground running as you embark on your journey!

But first, let’s talk about what you’re stepping into.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark is a post-apocalyptic action RPG where nature and machinery intertwine. You’ll battle rogue AI enemies, rebuild a community in your town, and uncover long-lost secrets. Every fight propels your journey forward, every structure you create strengthens your path, and every mystery you unravel brings you one step closer to restoring a future worth fighting for.

Now that you know the stakes, here’s how you can get started!

Start gathering resources early! There are a few ways you can do this!

You can explore your town immediately after completing the tutorial. Smack and grapple rocks, trees, and dig sites to collect resources you can later use to craft valuable items.

You can jump into main story missions to collect drops from enemy Combots. Early story missions focus on rescuing powerful Unibot allies, each of whom unlock features and systems key to pushing deeper into dangerous Combot territory.

Whether you’re in town or on a mission, there are always valuable materials to find that you’ll use to upgrade your weapons, customize your town, and power up your character.

As a reward for completing combat missions, you’ll start earning Soul Sparks—one of the most valuable resources in the game.

Visit the Sparkhold in town to spend Soul Sparks to unlock and upgrade special powers like the Ground Slam AOE and First Aid team heal, helping you turn the tide against the Combots.

Soul Sparks can also be used to upgrade your character’s stats in town and combat, from increasing starting health and revives to speeding up your resource gathering tools.

And remember to visit the Sparkhold after rescuing new bots, you never know who might show up offering new abilities and upgrades.

Rescue Smithy in the first story mission to bring weapon forging to your town, giving you the ability to craft every weapon in the game. As you make your way through his storyline, you’ll unlock weapon mod and customization options, which will add even more ways to strategize against the Combots.


When you rescue Chip in the second story mission (alongside Mason– more on him later), you’ll be unlocking the ability to upgrade the Wyre. As the cornerstone weapon of the game, you’ll use the Wyre to push, pull, and throw around your enemies. It will also come in handy around town as you’re collecting Bitibots and Gillibots.

These surprisingly cute (yet unsurprisingly mischievous) Bitibots will be hiding all around town, so keep your eyes peeled for a wiggling stone or a little bot peeking out between the leaves a tree.

Use the Wyre on their hiding places to shake them free, and quickly chase and catch them before they scurry away! You’ll see Gillibots swimming in the waters around town. Cast your Wyre and time a few strategic pulls to reel them in.

Chip will help you enhance your Wyre using Friendchips, a resource you can earn by rescuing and befriending Unibot residents.

Throughout your time in town and in missions, you’ll meet unique Unibots who can join you in battle.
These Battle Companions have distinct fighting styles and abilities, allowing you to customize your team and approaches for different missions.

You can rank up your favorite Battle Companions by taking them with you on missions and feeding them meals you cook when you see them around town.

Cooking is essential for leveling up your Battle Companions, so make sure to visit Chef Brot’s kitchen to prepare meals that boost their stats and strengthen your bond with them. Complete favors for your Battle Companions to learn their favorite meals to rank them up even faster!

You’ll need ingredients to whip up these delicious dishes, so you’ll need to fish for Gillibots and grow crops on your very own farm. Speaking of growth, that leads to the next Unibot you’ve got to have in your town!

Rescue Ivy and complete her quests to unlock new seed varieties and ingredients that you can grow and use in cooking. Ivy will teach you how to build your own farm and grow the seeds you find around town. The crops you grow can be used for cooking and crafting.

Ivy can also unlock new types of flowers in exchange Bitibots that can be planted around town and used in creating dyes to personalize your gear. Now that you have access to all the resources you need, it’s time to get customizing your character and town!

Complete Taylor’s rescue mission to unlock the ability to craft new outfits and customization options. You can use the dyes you’ll make from flowers to recolor your fits. Bitibots can be used to create backpacks that add an extra layer to your customization.

However you choose to express yourself, Taylor’s got you covered!

Finally, you might remember rescuing Mason alongside Chip.
Mason allows you to construct buildings and decorate your personal player home. Use materials you gather to craft furniture and decorations and design your town to your heart’s content.

With Mason’s help, you can shape your town into a unique, thriving hub, making it truly your own!

Expanding Nickel's shop unlocks more item selections, with the final tiers including the Gallery and Daily Freebies. The Gallery displays and sells paintings made by Unibots, which can be purchased and used as home decor. Daily Freebies offers occasional free items that can be collected by visiting her shop.

Use Buddy OS to check stats, manage your town, organize missions, and form groups with friends and Battle Companions.

If you haven’t had a chance to try Early Access yet, let us get you up to speed: In Lynked, you are a member of the resistance that will rebuild, battle, and uncover the past in a world reclaimed by rogue machines. With the help of your friendly, neighborhood Unibots, you'll piece together a new home while unraveling their unique quirks, histories, and quests. This adventure isn’t just about survival—it’s about discovery. Every battle fuels your journey, and every structure you build strengthens your next fight.

Read on to learn about early access, our most recent update, and what features you can expect from our official launch.

Our official launch on May 22, 2025, introduces five new chapters that expand the story with 40 additional missions, new weapons, five powerful bosses, and the brand-new Voidspyre Biome. You’ll uncover deeper gameplay and strategy with 25 new weapon mods, fresh enemy types, and the special 10-part sidequest: “Banner of the Spark.”

We’ve been pouring our hearts into this world, and we can’t wait for you to dive into our 1.0 release. Throughout early access, we’ve partnered with our community to build Lynked together. Earlier this year, we released Frostbye– an update that expanded on our weather systems to expand on town life and building while making the environment feel more alive.

Today, we released the "Buddy Up!" patch, which brings even more ways to connect with your Unibot allies. Recruit up to 168 Unibots as Battle Companions, and upgrade your home base with a fully equipped kitchen for Chef Brot—where you can cook meals to boost your battle ranks.

We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to take this journey with you. Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing guides, tips, and behind-the-scenes insights from the devs to help you gear up for the resistance.

Another major update has arrived in Lynked: Banner of the Spark! Meet a flavorful new character and recruit your favorite Unibot Residents into battle with Buddy Up! Check out the patch notes below for all the spicy details:

• Chef Brot Arrives: After a long journey perfecting his culinary skills, the legendary chef is ready for his biggest challenge yet—feeding the Resistance!
  
  • Chef will appear in your town after completing Lynked's Chapter One.
    
  • Build his Kitchen and complete all-new requests to unlock fresh food Recipes.
    
  • Working with Chef unlocks a new cosmetic (Chef’s Hat,) a new Resonator (Chef’s Sound Mixer,) and a devastating new Support-Lynk: Soup’s Up!
    
  • Chef’s arrival introduces two new systems: Cooking and Battle Companions.

• Battle Companions: Bring your favorite Unibot Residents into missions!
  
  • Choose up to two Unibots when playing solo (Single Player or Multiplayer) or one when adventuring with friends (Multiplayer.)
    
  • Battle Companions will have a unique fighting style depending on their body type! Small ones strike with fast attacks, Medium-sized bots deal AOE damage, and larger ones unleash slow, but powerful, strikes.
    
  • Unibots have their own Spark Powers—raise shields, heal allies, or blast Combots from afar. Form a team that fits your playstyle!
    
  • Battle Companions can revive players and each other and have unique “throw effects.” Grab a Unibot with your Wyre, charge up a throw, and unleash destruction!

• Cooking: Discover your Unibot Residents’ favorite Recipes and serve them meals to increase their Rank!
  
  • Ranking up Battle Companions boosts their stats, enhances their Spark Powers, and unlocks special décor items.
    
  • Completing Chef’s requests unlocks new Recipes requiring unique ingredients—harvest crops, flowers, Smeats, Gillibots, and Combot parts to master your cooking skills.
    
  • Unibots now have Favors requiring specific dishes—keep your pantry stocked!
    
  • Short on ingredients? Check Chef’s Produce Stand for a rotating selection of items.

• Haptic Feedback: Controller and Steam Deck players—rumble support is now available! (Can be disabled in Options.)

  • Slightly reduced damage dealt by Minibosses.

• Future Brand Weapons: Now come with a Speedy + Level 2 Core by default
  
  • Fixed: Fist & Spear weapons can now roll Speed upgrades.
    
  • Fixed: Spark Powers now recharge at the Campsite.

• New Contract: Unlocking a new Unibot Support-Lynk grants you a contract at Dime's Bounty Board, featuring new Support-Lynk challenges with rewards to spend at their respective shops.

Chef Brot is coming to town, and we can’t wait for you to meet him! Once you complete Chapter 1, you’re in for a treat (lol). Say hello to Chef, your newest resident and culinary expert.

With his own charming personality and plenty of tasks, you’ll quickly learn he’s bringing more than just food; Chef introduces a new cooking system into the game that will enable you to feed the resistance!

Speaking of… there are a few new recruits who you’ll be able to take alongside you in missions. Let us introduce you to Battle Companions!


The Unibots you save in missions across the campaign and through contracts can now join you in battle. You can bring two if you’re playing solo or one with you if you’re adventuring with friends.

We heard your feedback about Lynked’s difficulty — many players expressed that the game was feeling a bit too challenging when playing solo. With these new Battle Companions, you’ll have a helping hand in battle, making the experience more enjoyable and giving you a creative way to take on tougher foes.

Each Companion will have a Spark Power and unique combat skills, which you can improve by feeding them tasty grub—especially their favorite cuisine! As you serve them more and more meals, your companions will rank up, earning stat bonuses, improving their Spark Powers, and even unlocking a special piece of decor!


Working alongside Chef, you’ll unlock more recipes that show you how to combine your crops together to create delicious dishes. There are 80 ridiculous dishes that mix ingredients like crops with rocks, Gillibots, and even Combot parts to create meals like Grillibot, Mineral Stew, and Smeat Mountain.

We’re not just serving supper— there are also seven new weapons to unlock by cooking the recipes in Chef’s cookbook. New food-themed weapons include:

• Gladius Carota Sword
  
• Smeat Kabob Spear
  
• Pepper-Box Blaster

...to preview a few!

Residents around town seem to have specific food cravings, and you’ll need to complete their flavorful “favors” by giving them their favorite dishes. Completing these favors will unlock rewards along the way and allow you to bond more with your neighbors.


We’ve added rumble support for folks who enjoy playing on your Steam Deck or with a controller. This can be disabled through the in-game options menu.

As another preference update, you can now choose whether weapons from chests match your current weapon’s class. If you prefer, you can switch back to full randomness in the settings!

Get ready to deck out your space with some seriously snazzy new goodies! There is a new suite of Unibot Resident Statues, and show off your culinary achievements by whipping up delicious meals to earn Chef hats.

Add a dash of flair to your town with charming new decorations like the Chef Action Figure and Poster.
