better to spend your money on toilet paper than poopz/trainz
Why is it better? Its all a matter of taste. I prefer any Trainz version over TS2015. I have thousends of hours spend in Trainz(used this sim from the first version). Only aproxx 150 hours in TS2015. Its boring only to drive some trains. Other than that, the best routes are payware that is extememly expensive.
And if you want to build your own network like the RER system in Paris for example well, try it in TS2015. The peeps that build realistic routes(freeware) for TS2015 a very rare. I never got into it because its horrible and its like pulling theeth to build a realistic route with DEM data in TS2015.
If you dont sure bying TANE i should wait till its fully released and watch some reviews. And i suggest that you visit the http://forums.auran.com/trainz/index.php
There you find more information about Trainz then here on steam where most peeps dont even realize what Trainz is all about. But see it as the best building simulator for running trains. But it has a long learning curve to get all out of it. Grab a old version like TRS2010 or TRS2006 in the bargain so you can see what Trainz is all about.
If you register for trainz and look at the download station you will be shocked how mutch freeware you can download.
Here is an example for some freeware oabout the Moskow metro. There are routes all over the world. The problem is the way where to get all the great stuff. Its a hobby.

Sady its in Russian language
Trainz out of the box is oly 10% of the software you see.
Maby as a casusal gamer that only want to drive on routes for fun on expensive payware routes then TS2015 is an option. I dont want to say that TS2015 is not great but for me it isnt fun to only drive some trains on routes. I want to build my own system with real signaling and want to make my own sessions. And thats why i prefer any version of Trainz.
You are also very wrong about the devs not being in a hurry to fix the bugs. Have you even gone to the forums?

It does take time to make any sim/game it is not something that magically appears perfectly after a handfull of compiles.
This link is for the latest dev update. You can also go back and see what has been happening over the previous months and also what is being implemented into T:ANE that is not in the previous Trainz sims.

For me, TS2015 has better graphics and better performance than T:ANE. The latter is quite choppy and can cause particular problems with judging your speed, which seems to leap up or down by about 20km in one second because of the stuttering. But the former is generally very smooth, which results in much more realistic movement. The expert controls are easier to master in TS2015. TS2015 has FAR more DLC content available than Trainz, even if much of it is awfully expensive. While both games have their bugs, the ones in TS2015 are less exasperating than the ones in T:ANE. The main problems in TS2015 are things like "hidden" speed limits in some scenarios or signalling/derailing glitches. But in T:ANE, I have frequently encountered a problem with an AI driver just randomly taking over the loco for no reason. In fact, the Flying Scotsman session starts in AI mode and you never get a chance to control the train at all! I also tried a couple of sessions with streetcars, and in both of them, an AI driver just hijacked the vehicle after a couple of stops. So stupid and so incredibly frustrating! It's also far too easy in Trainz to lose your loco altogether if you try to look a bit further down the track. I don't think it's possible to totally lose control of your train in TS2015 the way it is in Trainz.
I am trying to give T:ANE a fair go, but the bugs in it make it impossible for me to complete any session right now, and they are just driving me straight back to TS2015. As I say, that game is not without its flaws either, but they don't make the game as unplayable as T:ANE mostly is for me at the moment.
Its fine. As i told its only a matter of taste and what you want to do with a sim. There are also peeps that like both simulators.
There is only one point i want to explain about DLC. TS2015 doesn,t have far more DLC content. Its the opposite. Trainz has far more free content then TR2015. But in Trainz you need to register and use the download station for tons of freeware stuff. Then you have tons of sites with freeware stuff with assats all over the world.
I give you an expample of one freeware site i use for my content in French routes:
http://globuletrainz.free.fr/crea.php?sect=400&page=1
And thats only one site out of the hundreds of freeware sites.
Remember Trainz is a niche product. And sadly Steam isn't the good place to get all out of it.
There is so mutch hidden in Trainz that i still learn today even if i use this sim from the first version. Its complex i agree.
Other then that is oke what ever you like. As long as you have fun then its great.
