Welcome to trainz.
Do not need a serial number, just reigster:
https://www.auran.com/planetauran/login.php
You use the same username and password that you have entered in Trainz Settings > Internet on the Trainz Launcher.
When you start trainz, it will connect with the Auran servers and check the username and password, once that is done you are good to go.
Normally on the very first startup, if it hasn't already done it, trainz will perform an automatic Database Rebuild which will take a small time. (maybe 5 mins give or take). Let it run it's course.
There is a pdf manual Launcher > File > View pdf documentation. Highly recommend having a read of this as there is an enormous amount of very helpful information.
Trainz may seem a little daunting at the start (like a lot of new things), but just have a play about and see what does what. Oh and give the tutorials a whirl. It will help you with the driving etc :)
There is an Easy mode or Realistic.
With the download station there is a huge amount of content. The content Manager Utility which is on the Launcher, presentlyshows 436,468. You can use this utility to download the content. There is also the download station white pages, which you can also browse to see what is available. https://www.auran.com/DLS/
There is the option to upgrade to a First Class Ticket. This will give you faster downloads and is unlimited. It also helps to support the servers where all the content is hosted. Without it, there is a daily limit of 100mb and the download is a lot slower. http://www.trainzportal.com/product/view/first-class-ticket-fct
It is still, however, on the DLS coming up with "TANE serial number required" even though in the game it has verified my account.
Is there something I'm completely missing?
Is this the route (layout) on the dls you are after - Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland 2014 TANE along with it's session?
Are you able to download anything off the dls using the "Manage Content" utility on the Launcher? A lot easier downloading using this.
Once trainz has verified your username with the servers you should be okay.
Wonder if something else has gone haywire. Probably best to contact support. https://support.trainzportal.com/ via Ticket Submission. N3V are Australian based so it is Sunday today, but they are back on Monday. Give them 24-48 hours to get back to you.
Firewall block has probably already been suggested by support.
Perhaps you could contact the author of the route and inform of your predicament. The sessions are made by other people.
I am unsure of what the restrictions would be for disbursement by a third party of the files along with it's dependencies (2,874 on dls) as it is down to the authors of this content as to what they allow or disallow.
I hope you are able to get it sorted oneday and able to download using the Content Manager.
