You need to do 3 things:
1) Open "syscfg.exe" (in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ford Racing 3\CONFIG" by default) and select your desired resolution (E.G. 1920x1080x32). Click on OK and that's it for step 1. Just ignore the other couple of .exe files that are in the same folder.
2) Download fr3.exe hosted here: http://www.wsgf.org/dr/ford-racing-3/en (not piracy, it's just a modded exe to support widescreen resolutions) and place it in the game folder, replacing the game's original fr3.exe.
3) Double click on it -> profit.
Please note FMV intro sequence and menus are still stretched, but fear not: when you start racing you'll enjoy a true, native and crisp (E.G. 1080p) HD widescreen presentation.
Apart from that, fullscreen antialasing doesn't work on this game unless you force it via "Nvidia inspector" application and use this value in "Antialasing compatibility" field: "0x000000C0". That and setting "Antialasing fix" to "on" should do the trick, if you have a Nvidia vga, that is. I don't think that will work on AMD cards. I'm not sure, though.
Cheers.
