What's the point of making this game exclusive to Asia only?

There's no need to make this game so hard to get if it's going to be a dating simulator. I'm not talking about whether it's paid or not, it doesn't matter. However, unlike doaxvv, you can't access the game's page via VPN. What's the point of being afraid to release this game globally? All the characters are of legal age, according to the trailers, there's not much sexualization of the characters compared to doaxvv, and it's just a dating simulator. If they make a global version later, like doaxvv, which has a Japanese version and a global version, then that's fine (if it really is global). Koei already has a large audience for this game in the rest of the world. Making it exclusive will only upset the non-Asian community. It makes no sense not to release this game globally.

Sorry for the long text, I just wanted to say what I think about what they're doing with this game. I really want to play it, but it will simply be inaccessible to me using the methods I know.

does it actually work? afaik region locked games can't be unlocked in different regions. You'd probably need to use a vpn to move to the region in question, then get gifted, then unlock the game. And i wonder how it cooperates with this

This doesn’t apply to the person getting the gift cause I’ve already gifted copies to friends in Australia and in one case a copy of DOA to an American

It won’t work for Europeans due to price differences

Also I’ve bought things while travelling in Japan and those region exclusive games work fine still

Thanks, good point, it says "cart" and "purchase" and gift is probably neither of those.

US-based credit card companies (VISA and Mastercard in particular) are denying service to adult websites based entirely on moral decisions, not legal ones, and there's a rising concern among Japanese creators that this will bleed into censorship of games, manga, anime, etc.

Fact is this has been going on for decades, West has been a puritanical minefield for a long time now, so it's really not surprising that potential targets as large as KT are hesitant about releasing mildly spicier games outside of SEA.

Paypal and visa have been doing some super shady stuff the last decade or so banning/blocking people for their political beliefs or values instead of actually just focusing on business. There is a huge reason why people are fighting to make sure that cash stays a viable option if we ever adopt a fully digital currency citizens will have basically no freedom or privacy anymore
