Keeps Trying To Install GFWL

I have GFWL installed already. Tron askes for GFWL and then stops. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the most up to date version of GFWL. Tron still tries to install GFWL and then won't start.

Also uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Tron still tries to install GFWL.

To be clear, this isn't an activation issue. The game was successfully activated with Paradox's help. That man is awesome. 3rd time he's helped me. But this time Tron keeps trying to install GFWL and then shuts down.

Anyone else have this issue and figured out a fix?

Did you by any chance try restarting your PC after the installation and try again?
This game is really fickle when it comes to installation of GFWL. I was having multiple issues getting mind to install but upon restarting my PC and trying again, it seems like it fixed the issue with GFWL.

I also didn't even have to install an updated version of GFWL. The one on my disc worked fine.

Yeah I rebooted. That unfortunately didn't help.

You have to add to your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Valve\Steam\Apps\315440
"Games For Windows Live Marketplace" (DWORD) = 1

This will remove annoying GFWL install requests every time you (re)launch the game.
A common problem of some misconfigured installation scripts for some games on Steam.

For the "shutdown" problem = it silently quits by itself right after launch and the game doesn't start anymore? Or was it just a GFWL annoying install request problem?

Even after adding that value the game does not fully start. It doesn't ask for GFWL anymore, but it's still behaving the same - click on play says starting, then just stops.

Is GFWL working fine with other games?
In case you could try reinstalling it using this up-to-date version:
"pcgamingwiki 1012-microsoft-games-for-windows-live" (search with Google, removed link since I noticed Steam complaining is unsafe URL pcgamingwiki !?)

If GFWL (aka Games for Windows Marketplace) is ok, then it's a Securom issue. Clean up with Securom removal tool and/or https://support.securom.com/diaghelp/download1.html (manually select GridGameLauncher.exe and choose to update/refresh this component) and try to re-register the game. All this Tron game Securom "revoked" codes is an unreliable mess...

No magic: Paradox just uses PA 80 (AKA 80 PA) tool which is actually the only solution ATM 'till Disney will fix it...

It can be DRM related. Try following that guide first (the part on how to completely remove SecuROM... and GFWL installation). This game runs well even on modern Win 10 (I use myself). Be also sure you don't run Steam as Admin or if you changed exe compatibility settings...

I don't remember exactly how i did it, but the key to solution of that problem in my case was removing EVERY SINGLE FILE RELATED TO OLD-VERSION-GFWL-CLIENT from my PC before reinstalling. I mean - from AppData, from ProgramData, from MyDocuments and etc.

And then - the only "TRUE- FOR REAL- NO KIDDING-" working version of GFWL i found in this guide, under the "backup link" : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2087402071

Also #1 - yes, disabling the two-step varification helped somehow, but recently I turned it on again - and the GFWL still works fine.

Also #2 - very important moment: if your GFWL account is also your XBOX Live account and also your Microsoft account - check if your password is no longer then 16 digits. Because GFWL client will not accept it (Microsoft fixed this problem with XBOX Live and Windows passwords, but because it happened AFTER the GFWL went out of use - they just left it as it was). In my case that also helped.

Can you clarify which link you mean? All the backup links in the guide are for SecuROM or PhysX. Was it one of the offline installers in the GFWL section?
