The story is somehow worse than the original, side content sucks and Jeez the gameplay had a lot of new stuff alright... but very few actually felt like an improvement when it was all kinda situational and nighttime wasn't really scary anymore
Instead of trying to somehow limit how Players could use their Travel Powers, they should have Focused on ways to use it in Combat. They also should have found ways to make Team Work matter. It feels like they where trying to either make a Single Player Game into a Multiplayer one, or Multiplayer into a Single Player, and ended up with a Mess that did neither well.
I just picked up the first one last year on Sale, and man was that Game FUN
You can use your Traversal in combat. There are Traversal Attacks. One of the reasons Traversals are limited by cooldowns is for the Riddler AR Challenges since otherwise there wouldn't really be any challenge. Special techniques and even stats on certain pieces of gear can also improve Traversal.
Having one "Attack" is not actually USING it for Combat. Have Freeze put up Ice Barriers, have Quin be able to be Stealthy and slip behind them, Let Shark cause the Ground to Shake and give them a Debuff. There are all sorts of ways they could have used them to actual make it benefit your Team and actually maybe encourage Team Work.
Instead its just used to move from Point A to Point B and have a Special Attack that just does Damage. It had promise, but clearly they where limited for time to get it working and out the door.
Yeah, it's a shame because the first one was a bit rough and by no means prefect but somehow even having extra stuff to do only really slowed the game down, even had a worse verison of Jade (a character we barely saw in the first game somehow had a more memorable character than whatever the main love interest from the second one)
