Storywise, they're probably about the same caliber. Gotham Knights has the darker Arkham feel, but honestly I don't remember a lot about it other than the constant angst, which is pretty at home in "Batman" related stuff I guess, something about the Owl Society, and annoying badly designed instant death mazes.
Suicide Squad is a lot less reverent and more action comedy. It has some fun banter, but the overall writing is mediocre. But, I'd say the Suicide Squad story will stick with you longer just because well. you kill the Justice League.
You may get a bit more base content out of Gotham maybe if you include all the AR challenges and stuff. But, Squad being a (most likely short lived) GaaS will have more content released over the year. But don't' expect big story additions. It'll most likely be a lot of the same go to this Earth with a different theme, kill stuff, delete 99.9% of the loot, and repeat.
Loot hunting wise they both kind of suck.
I haven't played Co-Op, but I'd imagine it is probably about the same experience.
The co op is still incredibly active too.
But the cons are it's much slower pace combat than this game. Has very annoying enemies in the late game that just respawn at full health and have difficult attacks. Precision combat is key, and some fighting styles just won't work on certain enemies. It also seems to intentionally start off on the worst possible foot. The opening mission is unbearable. But it does get better.
It's also terribly optimised, and the story is barely coherent and kinda embarrassing in some cases (like the first run in with penguin). And instant death maze in one level which kinda sucks but it doesn't matter that much, its not a common thing
The biggest game flaw for me is Batgirl. Since full upgraded the game basically just plays itself, nothing can stop her, kill her or detect her. She also plays like a worse verison of Batman in the early games with makes you think "I could just be playing Arkham"
