Warner Bros will continue the support for this dead game.

I really don't get it. It flopped. It made them lose 200 Million and still they are going to waste even more time and money on a dead game.
Whats even the point? Everyone knows that they are going to shut it down next year. Why waste more time and money?

No one plays this garbage. It has 100 players on steam and probably 100 more on consoles.
Lets say AT BEST 500 players on all platforms. Probably less.

Most likely to avoid any potential legal action, specifically fraud, by not fulfilling DLC roadmap promises made well before the game came out.

Although maybe the game will only be seen as a 199 million dollar loss if enough people buy it.

Rocksteady and WB Games are most likely obliged to fulfill whatever contracts they have on this game (support and eventual release of promised content) until they're done. So, unless somehow by a miracle and a long-shot this game is profitable enough to recover that $200 million loss, I'm sure they will terminate support after the roadmap is over.

While they admitted it wasn't a good business decision, they said they have to continue as planned on their "roadmap". They confirmed it with Kotaku. They didn't say anything about what happens after but people who enjoys the game should not be too happy.

purely for legal reasons, it would cost them more to rip the bandaid off and can it then

i guess the 100 people who play it and the 6 people who come in here for the daily numbers copy paste from steamdb will be happy, gives them something to do

Probably hoping it picks up. I think while they'll be releasing the whole 'roadmap' I really think they're gonna severely cut what content is going to be released. If season say 3 was supposed to have X, Y, Z, they'll probably only have the resources to release X.
Expect a lot of reused assets.

Do you really want game companies to start dropping support of their games as soon as they flop? Is this really the behavior do you want the industry to adopt now? It's their obligation to at least deliver the promised 4 seasons for Billy and Todd.

If they aren't going to make games that are fun(ctional) since day 1 with an offline mode so it can still at least technically be accessed X years after launch, then yes they should, because why devote any more time or money to a game barely cracking 300 players?

Everybody knows they ain't pulling a No Man's Sky or FF14 revival story.

So they can make any half baked cash grab, throw it out and abandon it as soon as it fails? You're letting them off the hook too easily for them to keep doing it again and again until it works.

The hundreds of million dollars in net negatives per project disagrees :HESSTILLGOOD:

Not really, they will just spend even less money in the next cash grab and abandon it again.

And someone has to say it, the "200 million loss" has been grossly misunderstood. The game didn't cost them 200 million, WB made in revenue in Q1 of 2024, 200 million less than they did to Q1 of last year, that's what the "200 million loss" refers to. That big fall in revenue is attributed to SSKTJL failing to bring in money, but it's also attributed to Q1 of 2023 seeing the release of Hogwarts Legacy, so yes, WB saw a much bigger income in that quarter.
Also, it's not like they just develop the whole game for years without contabilizing any money spent on the development and then just drop all of that spending on their accounts in one quarter when the game releases.
So what the game cost them could have been even more, could have been less, who knows, all I know is that the "200 million loss" doesn't mean what you think it means.
Nothing has meant anything it really means to the tantrums out to bury a game cause it was not pasted Arkham.

They have been building a mean fantasy all along.

Games still gonna move forward and release content A.K.A be supported so get mad about it.

But your Anger is a waste of energy as people still support and PLAY this game.

They have too. They have delusions of making a bunch of live service games, and even they know if they kill one so quickly it would mean nobody paying $$$ to play the next one.

spot on.

they can't make future live service games if people know what happens to games that flop.
