Regarding Sweet Baby Inc
Probably not gonna be a popular post but I gotta say it.

Don't get too caught up in politics or whatever. The core of the issue is that the games coming out now are bad, and poorly made, unoptimised and overpriced.

That wouldn't change without Sweet Baby in most cases. It's not necessarily their fault for it happening and getting rid of them wouldn't magically fix everything. It would be a bandaid on a gunshot wound without even checking if the bullet was removed.

The only thing they effect are probably the price and a ratio of people who show up in a game. Unless it's a historic game of some sort I'm not bothered by a modern large city having pride flags or minorities and I'm sure most of the people complaining about Sweet Baby also don't care about that.

We should focus on the root of the problem which is that games are being made by a committee of people who either don't understand or don't like games. Everything is being homogenised and turned into a gray sludge of 'open world action games with a crafting system and ultra realistic graphics' or "always online shooters with flashing feedback signals, loot boxes and microtransactions! Don't forget to come back tomorrow for your daily login bonus!"

It's probably easier to make someone the face of it and hound them, but the thing is Sweet Baby is a symptom not the cause. They're trying so hard to appeal to the lowest common denominator that they want people to check over the game with sensitivity readers to prevent offending people because they just don't know their own audience!

Wokeness is the shield corporate pragmatism is hiding behind.

Sweet Baby Inc isn't the only reason but one of the many reasons why gaming isn't that fun anymore.

Exactly. So don't let them become the scapegoat while the entire medium degrades further

Corporations do use progressive talking points as a shield against valid criticisms, true.

Unfortunately we also have to struggle against gamers zero amount of impulse control and low value on both their time and money.

Together these elements form a market ripe for predatory behavior with little chance of rehabilitation outside of a significant crash.

You know, there was somewhat of a push recently, about how game development sucks and developers should unionize. And suddenly, all the grifters appear out of nowhere, pointing fingers at that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ consulting firm and screaming bloody murder.

People tend to forget that we are in this together. Working Joe programmer, Linda from marketing department, even Todd or Alisha in charge of "sensitivity readings". We all want the same, ultimately - have food on the table and have some fun. Corporate executives, who approve and insist on everything we see in games and stories today, aren't going to face consequences of layoffs and studio closures. They will throw money at anything, whether it's DEI or "le zased media", as long as they can perpetuate this eternal growth and good paycheck – and they will keep milking us, all of us, dry. Remember who your real adversary is.

This is the type of criticism I can get behind. Rational, calm, and intelligently explained. It’s rare in these forums to find someone who isn’t ranting hate and just going to respond to anything you say with personal attacks. Bravo, points to the OP.

I’m not a Sweet Baby Inc supporter, I don’t agree with or support them. I just don’t get all the hate. You can disagree/dislike something without being awful about it.

Sweet Baby is a piece of the puzzle. Yes it is not the only piece, but it is an important one since it has become so well known that it can no longer be denied. They are the arm of the ESG loan grift - companies like Vanguard and Blackrock demand ESG for loans so developers were going to Sweet Baby to 'improve' their 'S' part of the ESG (Social). It's all about money and forcing 'people to accept change they otherwise will not accept' according to the Blackrock CEO.

Companies like Sweet Baby are centrally located to take advantage of this grift and there is no such thing as too much crticisim coming their way. What needs to happen is that company is closed and it's employees unable to work elsewhere. It's SO toxic that it must be fought against until they collapse. Any studio that worked with them needs to purge this immediately, make an apology otherwise they also need to close up shop. There is no compromise here, it's called we will push back on them until they collapse. It can be done and it will be done.

Then the next step is to figure out what to do with these investor firms trying to destroy Western culture (and more) just so they can make a cheap buck. Corruption at it's finest.

Then you don't understand the problem yet. Please read my prior post and continue looking into this subject. You see a lot of people are mad but don't understand why, oh but you will as you continue to see what's been going on. The issue here is a matter of belief - the malfeasance by these studios/consultants/investors is so egregious that it defies belief. Don't stop now, you're almost there.

Nobody has forgotten the role of the little guy who's stuck behind enemy lines. Like any business that has suffered poor leadership, they always are the ones to face the consequences first. "I want a paycheck" is always the worst excuse because it will change people's behavior if they feel desperate, ultimately forcing them to do the bidding of the poor leadership. Therefore, they are responsible as well. That's the breaks, be careful who you work for - something that's true in any industry.

I get it and I understand the frustration, but I don’t think the answer is ranting about feminism, LGBTQ+, etc. Just comes off as hateful, imo.

Hateful, and very easy to dismiss which I'd wager is what they're going for.

Whatever executives and teams are using them as meat shields don't care about minority groups, or maybe they do on a personal level, but they really want the good optics and opportunities that being an open supporter gives them.

It's annoying seeing people be so easily polarised...
