I think it was a pointless and mean spirited change they shouldn't have done since it basically destroys Talia completely as a character and love interest.

This is another "Joker" from another universe. Whatever he is or does is irrelevant to the story (if there is any actual story here to begin with).

Nothing matters when you start to mess with multiverses and death means so little because you can just bring the same characters from another earth. Like he could be Cesar Romero's Joker from the 60s TV series and it wouldn't make any difference.
