I really, really feel like this is directly the result of toxic comicbook nerds thrashing the game every chance they get because it did their favorite childhood hero dirty. Reason why I think this? You ever gone onto a site to debate who'd win vs 2 fictional characters?
People get CRAZY and ragey when they feel like their favorite character is being attacked.
Fortnite requires way more skill is way funnier.
It's almost like you're not Batman, you're one of the Suicide Squad so you're going to use different tools, different tactics and have different methods of moving around. :/
Take your outrage to Reddit and maybe consider adjusting those expectations.
Actually, well done Sweet Baby Inc.
I think half the people didn't touch it because they cared about Arkham and DC comics universe and didn't want to participate in its desecration.
Most of the other half found the gameplay lacking.
And the remaining handful now started to play better looter shooters, like Helldivers 2.
You did not reply to the utterfail the gameplay is. If you think the mechanics are good and the shooting is on point for a 2024 AAA game you deserve to have wasted your money and time playing that garbage game.
But you said it, you're not Batman and yet you are able to outperform every member of the justice league by shooting around things you don't even understand how it's part of the game and where the writers find such terrible ideas.
Seems like they rushed that cashgrab with these stupid boss fights.
I'm glad this moneygrab live service failure is not making any money. What in the world would the gaming industry become if they thought they could get away with this.
Because that's subjective and a bad argument to make. You need a time out dude, you're all over the place.
This game didn't sell, in spite of that negative publicity, not because of it. The game basically had an infinite wellspring of free marketing, and it still bombed.
The reason it didn't sell has almost nothing to do with the gameplay, or the story, or even the live service bs, because most people probably never knew about any of that stuff to begin with.
No, the reason why it tanked hard is the one and only thing about this game that stares you right in the face when you open up the store page.
It's ugly.
There's no nicer way to put it, the game just looks horrendous to the average buyer. There's a reason why the gaming industry has made so much technological innovation to push games graphically to look the best they can be, while innovation in gameplay has almost entirely stagnated.
Only one of those things sells copies. If a game looks off-putting, no one will sit down to play it in the first place. And the first thing you see when you open up the steam page is a desexualized Harley flipping you the bird.
I can get around with bad graphics if the gameplay is solid, enjoyable and addictive to play, hell as of today I could still play Arkham City, GTA san andreas or other fun games but not particularly beautiful for hours. Even daily if they added new content for it.
This game is a failure because it does not match a single aspect of what gamers are looking for.
Gameplay mechanics are bad and repetitive.
Graphics are worse than their previous game.
Story is awful and makes no sense.
They have nothing but really nothing to attract gamers.
+ they ♥♥♥♥ on Harley Quinn which they always nailed in the past like seriously.
You really underestimate how butthurt comicbook nerds get over this stuff, they drummed up huge backlash. Huge.
And everyone bandwagon'd it. You ever watch a let's play of this game? I did before buying because of all the drama and it starts off fine but everyone just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about how you kill the JL and how they don't like it.
Well, I mean why the ♥♥♥♥ did you buy a game called SS: Kill the Justice League then? lol.
The backlash is mostly undeserved. There's valid critique to be had for sure but getting upset that you're killing the JL is not valid. It's in the damned name of the game lol.
I mean why even make the game in the first place, if you are not able to pull it off?
Why drum it to all the world saying this is a continuation of Arkham, and thus Paul Dini's Batman and DC comics universe?
And if they did beat that drum to gather people around for the circus, then they deserve to know what all these people think, do they not?
Conversely if they did not want people's opinions, they could have made the exact same game in terms of mechanics, by different name (since JL characters can't be there), with same three activities.
Hell, they could even use the same characters, because nobody cares about the third rate villain sidekicks. May be call it "Hurleys Buffoons" or "Shoot the perple goo" or anything appropriate. It would have created zero feedback from Arkham fans.
