Penguin's monocle

Hello!

I noticed Penguin's monocle is actually a cut glass bottle. I think one of the earlier Arkham games did this, too. Is there a practical purpose for doing this?

I'm familiar with the term "coke bottle glasses", but that usually isn't taken literally.

Well, it appears that Batman not only suffered the indignity of a poorly written death scene, but now has officially been replaced as the World's Greatest Detective.
